It’s a pretty decent brune. Some good strong malts. Some toffee and choc. Lots of dry malt on aroma. I thought that this was a pretty drinkable solid brune. blipp (1685), Newark, New Jersey, USA

| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Feb 11, 2009 Sometimes a beer just appeals to your senses perfectly. I loved this baby. Pillowy tan head and a brownish red body. Malt nose was quite sweet with plenty of spices as well. Taste began with hoppy flowers, but soon had prunes, plums, and apricot with a bitter coffee presence at the end. Behind it all though, I detected a goregous raspberry that reminded me of a lambic. This pushed me over th edge, I am in love with this beer. Soft and fizzy palate was superb as well. jcwattsrugger (5532), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 25, 2008 End of the year rate-a-thon continues. 750mL cork and wire into a large Duvel tulip. Pours murky dark brown with no clarity and a medium head. Just your basic beautiful Belgian pour. Aroma is strong with a hit of lightly syrupy, raisin sweet, slightly spiced, black bread. Its got airiness of a Belgian yeast as well. Its strong and a bit young, just can tell its a bit too aggressive. I feel like this aroma will come together even better with time. Taste is again lightly syrupy sweet with a lightly empty raisin flavor. Just seems to be a bit lacking with a slightly thinner body. Ends with a stale, lightly empty aftertaste.
