Bready aroma, dark toasty malts and plum/date fruitiness. Like drinking fruitcake. Spicy character up front as well. Flavour is rich and well-balanced, sweet caramel/molasses up front before morphing into a toasty warming finish. Nicely done. pivo (2537), Germany
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 13, 2004 Toasted malt aromas, clear dark brown color. Toasted, even roasted malt tastes. Slightly sweet with a tobacco end. The 8.2% ABV is really hidden and you wouldn’t have guess it has some much alcohol. Decent, interesting brew. Malakin (465), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 29, 2004 This beer is really yummie. Strong aroma of malts (caramel/chocolate, roasted), some fruits, salmiak and honey. Great. Hazy, brown-red coloured with a lasting brownish, creamy head. taste initially is malty-sweet (caramel/chocolate) and becomes more roasted towards the finish. Salmiak, fresh fruits and notes of spices. Good body. Much in this beer. Smooth, balanced taste and palate. I could drink dozens of this stuff. YogiBeera (2437), Hamburg, Germany

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 21, 2004 Very dense, huge, creamy-brownish head; dark brown beer, slight reddish shine and quite hazy. Chocolate, dark malts and/or dark grain, bit of mint aroma. Chocolate, roasted malts, touch sourish, stout-like. Main taste is sweet, virtually no bitterness. Very slight smokey touch, liqourice-sweets. Rather light mouthfeel, certainly for its ABV, grainy, even powdery texture. There is a slight burning sensation, but not one I link to the alcohol, which remains hidden. This is actually a good session beer - if it weren’t for the ABV. For somebody not searching for the beery extasis, however, this might be a pleasing alternative. BeerPrince (1701), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 21, 2004 Pours a medium head of mostly lasting lacing with a hazy brown colored uncarbonated body behind. Its aroma was mildly malted with some roasted notes, slightly smokey. It had a smooth mouthfeel. A unique taste of something smokey, perhaps a woody taste. Its hard to figure out what it is. A nice beer.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 7, 2004 Bought a bottle in 2003, I think in Denver at the GABF. 75 cL. The aroma contains ginger and coriander-like smells. The spicing is very dry and the flavor is almost lager-like in its low malt profile. Good beer.
