Commercial Description:
This beer looks like it means business right from the start. It is dark red brown with a good fluffy head and has a rich spicy malt nose with a few bitter orange notes. The palate has a big hoppy bite and a rich, fruity, dark coffee character, which tries to become roasted in the finish.

Bottled. Deep ruby red colour, small beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, some ginger and other spices, fruits and yeast. Flavour is very much the same along with coffee and mild sugaryness. All the roasted/toasted notes are gone once the beer warms up a bit from being fridge cold. I liked it more when cold.

Dark coppery colored, little yellow head. Sour fruity aroma with strong yeasty note, mild berries and spices can be found there too, Medium bodied, crispy palate. Flavor is even more sour with this berry tone, still strong yeast here, chocolate comes up nicely. Aftertaste has again yeast dominating, some orange and spices also there. Good Belgian, still somehow disappointment.

Cherries and plums, oh my! 750 ml bottle. Solid, yeoman-like representative of the Abbey Dubbel style. Enjoyable, but not particularly noteworthy. Different from Chimay Red, but not necessarily better.

Bottle: Reddish brown colored pour with medium sized head. Brown sugar, yeasty, fruity aroma. Sweet caramel, malty, slight citrus finish. This wasn’t bad at all.

.33l bottle with the Cistercienne Bruna label. Poured a deep orangish / brown color with a larger sized off white head. Aromas of roasted ginger, chcolate, dark fruits, and somewhat earthy. Some spices and something there I couldn’t quite put my finger on. Tastes of roast, spices, and some dark fruits.

Thanks to hopdog. Pours a brown with lots of ruby red notes and a larger frothy off white head that left some lacing. Aroma of floral notes dandilions, some dark fruits and sugary make notes. Flavor was a mix of the same with some Ginger and other spices I could not pinpoint.

Bottle at Logan’s Pre-GABF party. Dark pour with lots of fluffy head. Some spice and dark fruits on the aromas. Flavors were more maltiness with some fruit and touches of toasted bread. Not too bad.

Pours dark brown with lacy head. Aroma is sweet malt, caramel and some yeast. Taste has some bitterness, yeast, malt, and works well with caramel chocolate brownies.
