Pigfoot (2225), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Sep 4, 2005 750 ml bottle.
Fills the glass a dark, ruddy brown, impenetrable, capped with raucous creamy tan head.
Wintry spices greet the nose first, cinnamon, anise, cardamom, more, meeting up with cocoa, molasses, maple. Very intriquing, the spice mix makes it unique.
They continue to tickle when they make contact with the tongue, too. A slick, a tasty presence on the palate, very smooth, dark, delicious. Sweetness and spice looming large at the front of every sip, then fade back and mellow out. Crisp, brisk carbonation.
Medium bodied, long lasting flavor, ultimately dry in the finish, rich with flavor.
I like it. My kind of beer.
thebeertourist (2005), Oslo, Norway Sep 20, 2008 From bottle at Creperie Bretonne, Louvain-la-Neuve. Dark brown with a small tan head. Roasted malts and spices aroma. Somewhat perfumey taste with roasted malts in the background. On the spicy side, but still highly drinkable. gwpom (210), Akron, New York, USA Sep 14, 2008 This comes out to me exactly as stated on the label, Artisinal Brown Ale. A dark brown, with a cream colored head that lasts, tasting of fruit and caramel and all the other things I associate with Belgian beer. While not spectacular, certainly drinkable with a good 8.2% kick. thehurt01 (141), Denver, Colorado, USA Aug 19, 2008 The aroma is light carmel and toasted malt. the look is a clear dark brown with a big cream head. the flavor roasted malt with a mild spicy orange. the beer coates your mouth a little and the carbonation is a little low. jaghana (23), Strasbourg, France Aug 17, 2008 Head is very small but deep, smells as fruits for me mostly cherry maybe apricot. The taste is quite sweet, the finish is long remains a yeast aroma, nice beer.
LordCorkscrew (670), Ronco Scrivia (GE), Italy Aug 1, 2008 Buona birra della Binchoise presa in 3 all’Exultate; un po’ difficile da finire però eh... dovevo guidare e ne ho bevuta poca però ne ho già piene le palle.
