Commercial Description:
Speciale Noel could only be a Christmas beer. It is a classic, warming winter ale with plenty of depth and a roasted, fruity malt character.

Rated in Vancouver (at the Marriott Pinnacle to be precise). Rated while at an IETF meeting along with my wife and lovely twin girls Rowan and Gwendolyn. At the moment, the hotel room is slightly chaotic which for the past 7 months is considered par for the course. Colour is brownish red, fairly thick white head, cloudy consistency. Nose has a very faint hint of spice. Taste is very subtle, not sublime but subtle. There are hints of very many ’things’ going on. Christmas per se was not at the forefront of my mind when tasting this beer, I have had many an xmas offering, and generally speaking the characteristics are bold big and not terrably muted. Good, but not a 92nd percentile beer imho.

Poured a deep amber color with a large fluffy white head that slowly faded and held steady. The aroma was of citrus fruits, spices, malts, and some caramel. This is one is definitely full flavored with citrus and dark fruits coming through mixed with some spices. Some candied sugar and malts come through as it warms up to sweeten things up a bit. This has a lot of flavors going on, which is good. This was medium bodied with some lviely carbonation to the mouthfeel that had a dry hop bitterness finish to it. This one is really tasty.

Old bottle from Erasmus. Pours a slightly carbonated opaque, cloudy dark amber. Aroma is like an old spice cabinet: cinammon, ginger, nutmeg. Flavor: very light body for the 9%. Some candied fruit, caramel, fading into a dry, spicy, cardboardy finish. Very interesting, but not exactly a gem. Too oxidized, but this happens occasionally with aged beers.

Hazy amber with medium off white head that quickly disappears. Spciy aroma with fruits. Flavor is sweet and a bit watery with some christmas spices. Thin bodied. Alcohol is very well hidden.

Bottle sampled with stegosaurus. Pours a amber color with a one finger off-white head. Aroma of caramel, citrus, fruits and spices. Flavor is moderately sweet with malts, fruit, caramel, and notes of nutmeg with a nice hop bitterness finish. A very good belgian strong.

Bottle. Dark gold with a rocky head. Aromas are toffee malts with yeast. Some nuttiness with chocolate and spices. Flavours are sweet malts and peppery hops. Yeasty with cookie dough. Quite nutty and earthy. Good.

Bottle. Little hazy golden colour with a huge white head. Nice spicy aroma of anis and blueberry. Flavour of spices such as anis, caramel and little of dried fruit, very refreshing.
