Nose of very sweet malts and cloves, also some pear, some yeast--lots of spiciness. Smells pretty awesome. Taste has some warming alcohol. Otherwise tastes how is smells--pretty fruity and spicy. . . Apparently I’m too tired to think of many adjectives--I’ll have to grab another bottle and rerate this one later. HogTownHarry (4003), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 3, 2006 Bottle (330ml). As "La Binchoise Reserve Speciale." Hazy reddish-orange with an average tan foamy-creamy head. Mild yeasty aroma of light caramel malt and fruit sweetness - apple, peach and pear - only a hint of alcohol, and some softwood notes. The flavour is strongly spicy caramel malt with orange juice, quite sweet, but treefruit and some faint woodiness to mellow it, a whisper of crushed grapeseed contributes some bitterness in the finish, and the alcohol is startlingly minimal for 9%. Mouthfeel sticky, syrupy, lively and almost fizzy - a pleasant belgian strong, the seasonal spices really emerge with warming. Silphium (2137), Haslett, Michigan, USA

Slightly cloudy with sediment, burnt amber color with decent head that fades rather quickly. Aroma is all yeasty fruit up front, peach, apple, pear. Some spice hidden in the background. Initial flavor mixture of fruit and malt sweetness, through the middle reminds of iced-tea in a way, flavor and body. Finishes dry with slightest bit of alcohol. beermatrix (1497), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jan 2, 2006 On-tap at the Happy Gnome: Clouded peachy orange color with a super quick thin cap of foam that leaves the thinnest of thin collar around the edge and the lacing is minimal to none in some spotting.
Aroma is divinely tropical! Woaw, such a thivk soup of fruits here its hard to distinquish the actuals but I tend to get a ton of pineapple with great juicy, full scoops of peach, apricot, and pear. Mushy, malty, and very big on the nose. Lovingly tropical fullness!
Taste doesn’t disappoint, mush like the aroma it bleeds out tropical fruity goodness. Mucho pineapple with a great fruity, mushy meld of peach, apricot, lemon meringue, and silky malted sweetness that lasts well from front to back. Quite a nice taster.
Feel is quite full, thick, and rounded in tropical malty goodness. Yum, yum, in the tum! Downable and dangerously so. A fantastic beer! robertsreality (2460), Minnesota, USA
