There’s a great deal going on in the aroma: sweet and succulent fruits, restrained yeastiness, pepper and spices...but it all comes together to smell like fruity pebbles. So much so that the individual componets almost become inseperable because of said Fruity Pebbles. Damn them. But, it’s pleasing in an odd way. At first it tasted much different than the aroma; sweet malts up front with a perfumy bitterness in the finish. But then the fruitiness started taking over again. And Wham! Fruity!Pebbles before my glass is 1/3 finished. Medium to full body with a velvety texture and lively carbonation. Alcohol is a non-factor. Emil (6074), Copenhagen, Denmark

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 30, 2005 Updated: May 29, 2008Original Rating July 30, 2005: This has the appearance of mud with a thin layer of foam on top. Aroma of dust and earth. The taste was some odd form of old and moldy syrup. I trust the bottle shop so I don’t think this one was bad, but I really don’t see the attraction. 6/3/4/2/8 Re-rate May 29, 2008: Copper color with a large head. Spicy aroma. Lots of caramel and fruit flavors, finished off with orange, coriander and yeast. Much better. Papsoe (15107), Frederiksberg, Denmark

Extremely full-bodied and potent Christmas beer with a good dose of hops to balance things. Has a lightly perfumy, refined touch - maybe coriander. An excellent brew. 080698 marcus (1896), Sacramento, California, USA

The flavor is very complex - fruity, spicy and malty, with a peppery finish. A nice drink for any occasion. Cornfield (4972), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 26, 2005 Imbibed from the bottle under the alias of "Reserve Speciale" (That’s the beer, not me): A fizzy off-white head covers an amber body rife with minute suspended particles. It has a sweet candy-like aroma, malty with hot spices. There’s a slight, pleasurable burn in the back of the throaat as this goes down. It’s candy caramel and pepper, cherries and apricots, oranges and alcohol... all neatly blended together to create a warming drink that hits the spot even in hot weather.
