Pours amber, unfiltered appearance (good) with a huge, fluffy white head. Honey, currant, and straw aromas with no noticeable hop bouquet. A little bit sweet and sour: honey sweet up front followed by a grain husk astringency; aged hop flavor similar to Orval. Lingering honey sweetness as the beer warms. Medium body with a long clean hoppy finish.
Highly drinkable, which could be dangerous given the alcohol content. Overall, a very good beer that nails the style with ease. Travlr (769), Washington, Washington DC, USA

Spicy flavor as well, with some alcohol and a malty finish. Medium body, high carbonation. Prickly mouthfeel. The carbonation is too heavy, but the flavor is nice. bchlala (42), Denmark

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 26, 2008 This beer is good as it poured a yellow orange with the same color head. You can smell the orange and coriander and tastes them also. The after taste is a little bitter, probably the right amount. Lastly there is a little carmel with the citrus. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 25, 2008 A little gushing action upon opening. Poured a cloudy gold with a white pillow head. Smells of oranges with a little spice, just a little alcohol and a very slight metallic scent. Tastes like a loaf of bread with a slight banana flavor. Just a little alcohol on the back yet. An amazing beer. I’ve had La Chouffe previously where there was a little skunkiness. This bottle is perfect, though. malrubius (1002), Valley Stream, New York, USA

Very complex aroma of sweet marshmallow apple wine and several spices. Sweet orange pastry flavor with multiple spices, mild spicy bitterness in back. Medium body and carbo. A very complex beer, and delicious too. A little spicy for my taste. I don’t like a bitter spice, is it nutmeg? Still, an excellent challenging yet refreshing and light beer.
