Beer was nice and tart. Flavor was much the same. Alcohol was not hidden well at all, but beer was pretty good. Stefano (1347), Esbjerg, Denmark
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 3, 2006 Slighty hazy red amber body, with a good velvety off white head. Fruity, spicy and malty aroma followed by lots of malt flavor with some horse leather/must lingering in the background. Some phenolic and some esters notices as well. eaglefan538 (2405), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 2, 2006 Poured an amber color, somewhat cloudy, sedimentation at the bottom of the bottle. The aroma was light pineapples over tart apples and some caramel. The flavor was apples, grapes, sourness factor underneath, some spices, pepper, overall fruity tones. Alcohol was a little hot for a biere de garde. Mouthfeel was tart/sour combined, a little too much so for what I was expecting from the style, not as "crisp" as other biere de gardes. Darker copper color with very active carbonation. Light tan head. Spicy, yeast aroma with some caramel and toast notes. Sweet and malty with a bubblegum flavor. More toast, some astringency, and a bit of fruit, apples or grapes mostly. Dry finish.

Amber copper with a medium white head that disappear quickly. Aroma is earthy and sweet, candy, roasted malts, herbal and floral. Taste is sweet malt, spices, herbs and dark fruits with a medium body. Good beer overall, but a little too sweet for me. mabel (2626), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Rich red-brown colour, off-white head, lots of floaties and tiny bubbles. Flavour was thick, chocolatey and malty, like a dark molasses or maple syrup. Felt round, a medium rich body, alcohol quite noticeable. Overall a nature-y beer. kiwinhants (6), Sherfield-on-Loddon, England does not count | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 3, 2006 75cl bottle brought back from France. Nice dark amber appearance in the glass and enjoyed the complex flavours esp as it warmed slightly while drinking. Unfortunately my wife also loved it so I had to share the bottle! Hazy deep coppery pour with aroma of caramel malt, fruit, some vinous notes, plus some funky cabernet notes. Tastes fruity, with caramel malt, vinous, nutty, and some cognac notes. The hops and spice appeared at mid-palate, and blended well with the flavor.
