| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 8, 2005 (750ml bottle) Pours a reddish brown body with an average-sized off-white head. Malty aroma with notes of toffee, prunes, and dates. Compatible flavor of malt, dark fruits (prunes, dates, raisins), spicy yeast, and earthiness. Probiere (992), Iowa, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 31, 2005 Not as much nuttiness and maltiness as I would have liked. However, there are distinct wood and honey notes mixed in with a gentle hint of white wine. The yeast was a little too much in eveidence and interfered slightly with the malt accents. Still, decent. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 23, 2005 Dark autumnal reddish brown with a small foam pellicle, slight aroma of turpentine underneath a wonderful plummy malt base. Soft and brisk on the palate, with whiskey like notes and a faint eucalyptus thing in the background, followed by just a little bannana. Alcohol warms, graham cracker and cola on the finish. This really is the kind of flavor that I think of when I think of quality biere de garde. Trev (880), Lakeville, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 22, 2005 Pours a nice brownish ruby with a large white froathy head with decent lace and good retention. Aromas predominantly caramel, malty. Baking cookie aroma and a slight fruity orangish undertone.
Flavour is sweet malty and pleasant. Zippy carbonation give a lively mouthfeel . As the brew warms a bit more sourish flavours come out. A thin molasses taste. Finish is slightly sour.
Overall a very well made and pleasant beer.
