Good mild spiciness that is expected from the style. I would bet that this one would be really good on draught. heemer77 (4311), Savannah, Missouri, USA

Thanks for the throw in bottle, Liquor Box in East Moline. Still a solid brew and the only difference this time is that I have hints of prunes. Deep amber color with a huge off white head. The aroma is peanuts and some prunes along with a little bit of raspberries and chocolate. The taste is light and playful with hints of caramel and some hazelnuts. There is also a little bit of toast. This is a delicious beer that would probably go well with about any meal. Nutty and slightly sweet, but not dominated by any one characteristic. mixamatt (427), San Francisco, California, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 21, 2005 Superb northern French biere de garde. Poured a caramel colour with a frothing tan head and some lace. The nose is subtle and complex. Lightly spiced, some nuts, plenty of malt, and a faint toastiness. Smooth, medium body. Caramel characters in a beautifully rounded body. Some spices in the mix. Alcohol is in balance. Very more-ish. (Bottle) rickgordon (3319), Göteborg, Sweden

Reddish charneol colour. Cellary aroma with notes of toffee. Bit nutty nose(almond) as well. Very soft malty, a bit cellar-like in flavour as well and with almondy notes as well as toffee. A beer with small nuances in flavour. ChristianSA (368), Copenhagen, Denmark
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Jan 20, 2005 75 cl bottle; Dark copper with white head that collapses fairly fast. Nose is sweet malt and a hint of chewinggum. Flavor is sweet and spicy with a strange dusty taste... maybe this beer has been mistreated by the shop?? Mouthfeel is heavily carbonated and allright for style. DrGonzo (625), Somerville, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 27, 2004 Copper brown color, medium off white head. Aroma of slightly roasted malt, caramel, apple. In comparison to your standard biere de garde, much sweeter, toasted malt, caramel, alcohol is nearly indetectable. Same mineral water base and wine feel as others in the style, but a much less dry finish. A flavorful and fun beer. dirkules (613), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 23, 2004 Nutty brown with a great sweet malt and a touch of vanilla on top of the caramels. A dry finish... Much better than the Blonde.
