Commercial Description:
La Choulette Ambrée is the classic amber version of a French bières de gardes. It has a wonderfully spicy aroma and is fullflavored, but effervescent and refreshing.

Not as light and fruity as some biere de gardes. Lots of amber and malts. Some nutty taste. But I prefer the farmhouse style a bit more.

Amber-red with a nice head. Malty aroma, full of nuts and caramel. Sweet flavours of fruits, spice, caramel and hazelnuts. Delicious.

Bottle from April 07. Pours a deep ruby red/amber with very little head. Aroma is pronounced alcohol, mustiness, and some pilsener hiding in the background. Taste is very straightforward. Tastes like super-old pilsener malt, mustiess, and even some hops in there. Almost tastes like the homebrew Saison I made today smelled. Reminds me a lot of a basement. Very dry on the palate, with a little bit of acidity in the background. No spiciness, hardly any "fresh" character.

Sweetish and very malty but ultimately tasty beer. Big bottle pours chestnut brown with beige head. Nose is sweet and fruity, ripe-apple-cidery, with some caramel malt coming through in aroma. Tastes mildly sweet and moderately bitter, getting sweeter as you go. Very caramel-malty with some nice stewed-apple notes. Lively MF. Strength well hidden, nearly refreshing but also nearly cloying. Would be a killer complement to some roast pork or bird, I think.

33cl bottle. Pours dark amber/brown with a creamy head & lacings. Aroma is pleasant, dakr fruits & caramel. Medium & smooth palate. Tiny bready & metallic note. Other than that quite good. Vinous & round. The best in the La Choulette series!
