| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 10, 2005 This is supposed to be a "fuller flavored version of the classic bière de garde," but I found it to be a bit thin. Pouring a lighter brown body, it sports a fizzy, cream colored head that visits only briefly. The aroma is sweet, sweet malts with dark, hard candy and a bit of nutty bitterness. The sweet malts taste lightly roasted and the candy flavors remain strong, the bitterness fading into a memory. The finish is rather abrupt, clean without much lasting flavor.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 31, 2005 Poured from a 750, this one has a thick frothy/foamy off-white head that disapates to a thin head. The body is bronze, mahogany color. Good lacing. The aroma has a light soap quality to it with a malt backbone and dust and basements, light apples. The flavor has some perfume hops and some floweryness to it. There are some light toasted malts as well, light roasted malts. A biere de garde... The palate is quite thick with a velvety texture. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 1, 2005 Updated: Jun 23, 2005(Bottle 75 cl) Ruby-red or perhaps rather mahogany? Slightly hazy. Very full-bodied, lots of malts and a caramel-like sweetness. Has a somewhat vinous touch - sherry? Fine - albeit discreet - bitterness to give balance. Typical rusic biere de garde-character. A true Christmas beer. 230405 goldtwins (4084), Nesconset, New York, USA
