Commercial Description:
Stronger, fuller flavored version of the classic bière de garde. The New York Times (your Paper of Record) just anointed this beer the ultimate bière de garde, and rightly so. It’s a rich, rare treat from one of France’s old guard craft breweries. Be there or be square.

Bottle from Super Saver. Hazy ruby coppery pour with 1-finger off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, fruit, spice, hopcitrus. The taste was caramel malty, spicy, with some nutmeg, brown sugar, maple syrup, and slight hops. Medium palate with a lot of complexity.

Rich aroma of dried fruits, rum, and soy sauce. Creamy on the tongue with a lasting flaovr of fruit syrup reduction, roasted malt, and marmite. Yeasty bite with just a touch of resiny hops. Pretty tasty, but the taste buds get quickly overwhelmed to the point that the beer becomes a little one dimensional.

I would readily have again. Excellent with dinner. Palish biere de garde colour, heavenly spicy scent. Easy mouthfeel, understated carbonation and it;s in its prime, nine months before expirey. Slightly candy sweet that works nicely with the spices. Sour notes

Bottle. Amber colour with a huge head. Very malty aroma with notes of toffee and caramel. Light dusty and malty flavour someway sweet and spicy.

Pours a slightly hazy amber. Sweet and very full bodied. Nice fruity and malty balance. Quite floral. Slightly vinous. Floral finish.

A hazy amber beer with a thin light orange head. The aroma is malty with notes of wood, while the flavor is sweet malty with notes of over ripe fruits and wood. Somewhat boring.
