HogTownHarry (3286), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada May 13, 2007 bottle (200ml, clear). Via trade with mouton_noire. Rating #2200. "Récolte 2005." Pours oily-looking clear refractive brass-gold, no head, no bubbles, but from what I know of ice wines, this is exactly as it should be. The aroma is initially mild (needed to warm), eventually it opened to reveal a complex combination of sweet ripe apple, a little brown sugar, some bone-dry musty white wine and a hint of tartness. Taste - just wow. Who would ever drink ice wine again after this? Smooth, silky, real-apple, sweet but not cloying, a hint of light spice hovering in the background, warming but muted alcohol, no aftertaste (other than apple), no burn - man that’s a fine thing. Silky, sticky body - neither thick nor watery, just perfect, really, not carbonated but that’s not the point here, it just sits on the tongue and you mourn it’s passing and realize why it’s so expensive. Stunning.
tertons (100), East Providence, Rhode Island, USA Oct 4, 2008 Great dessert here. Unique balance of an upfront and potent apple flavor. A little on the sweet side for myself, but with age this should be that much better. Thick and syrupy body with a slight alcohol taste. cgarvieuk (2541), Edinburgh, Scotland Oct 3, 2008 Bottle at EBF ... One of the Mikkeller gang brougth this... Very good tang its so concentrated makes you feel like it should be watered down. Lovely fresh sliced apples, quite incredible and so full flavoured, feel very fortunate to have this and the Dark Lord right after each other. WeeHeavySD (1866), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Sep 25, 2008 2005 Vintage 375ml via in person trade with glougoburb. Thanks Dany, shared with my girlfriend Cyn and my friend Steve who loves cider and recently got his masters. Pour golden orange with no head. Nose is sweet and very nice with lots of flavor. Taste is sweet, with a ridiculous amount of apple flavor and overall a wonderful full flavored experience thats slightly boozy but all in all not compared to the alcohol it acutally has. Excellent. jayme_9874 (751), Hamburg, New York, USA Sep 24, 2008 Golden. Big candied apple pie nose with the spices. Medium-full bodied, delectable apple flavor meshing with the alcohol warmth, spices, Starts sweet with balancing apple tartness. Just fantastic.
