Mar 30, 2004 (Nitro Draft: Beach House Brewery in La Jolla, CA) Nitro dispensed; Fairly dry stout like an Irish Stout, but for a the style, the dark roasted flavor is relatively light and mildly bitter; Black and opaque, but clearly reddish at the edges; Nose has a lightly roasted aroma; Now for the bizarre head, which is tan and creamy, but soon settles into two very distinct layers; The top layer is significantly darker and more bubbly than the lower layer, which is off white, very fine and creamy; Thick gobs of head stick to the glass rather than a delicate pattern of lacing
