Heavyweight open house. Bottle nearly exploded and left about half of the beer in the bottle with the rest being foam. Had to wait a while to let it die down enough to sample. Pours a hazy deep golden with a good sized white head. Aromas were a lot of barnyard, brett. wet hay, and spices. Good slightly malty, toasty bready flavors with lots of phenols and a mildly acidic finish. Very unique for a saison with all the barnyard aromas in there. Not too much of the traditional earthy spices with hardly any of the dupont yeast characteristics.

Also a touch of bret initially. Big roasty and herbal spice nose. Toasted caramel nut bread and white pepper upfront, probably grains of paradise. Mild dark fruits and toffee follow thru. Very good lingering slightly sour finish.

2003 bottle. very funky musty sweat and horseblanket aroma. very cloudy dark tan/straw colored body. off-white head that diminishes quickly. high carbonation. sour flavor, slightly tangy. dryish aftertaste. alcohol well hidden for a high octane saison, since hiding heat in these fragile flavors would normally be like a wildebeast in an open field. thanks Beerslayer!

Thanks beerslayer. Light aroma of sour, funk, hay. Yeasty. Taste some sour grapefruit, mandarin orange. Lots of good about this.

2003 Bottle thanks to Beerslayer. Hazy golden color with a medium sized white head. Funky, yeasty aroma with some fruits and spices(coriander?) Lightly sweet flavor with just a touch of tartness. Fruity finish.

Bottle courtesy of Matta. Pours dark dirty orange. Highly carbonated. Aroma is very yeasty with some dark fruits. Taste the smae with some raisin more evident in the finish. Finishes a little dry with a strange smoky woodsy aftertaste.

Bottle conditioned, at Essen Kerstbierfestival 2004. Amber gold, thin off white head and moderate condition. Sweet butterscotch and caramle in the nose with some slight yeasty fruitiness. Butterscotch and caramel maltiness dominate in the mouth and linger into the finish along with a gentle bitterness.

Corked bottle
Beautiful copper color; huge head. Very nice aroma, dry, malty, mature apples and red grapes. Good body, some malt, a peculiar woody astringency. Correct final.
Below my expectations…
