Soft yeast, lemon rind, bread, subtle grassy ,herbal qualities. Also agree with Per on the cheese and mineral characters. Finishes, with some light acidity, and peppery alcohol. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 8, 2004 Very high, fluffy head, reasonably stable; dark orange-amber, fully hazy. Bit smoky nose, leather, ironoxide, verbena, higher alcohols? Spicey, iron-y taste, bit cheesy and again leather. Fusels and esters, farmyard flavours, and there’s a set of spruce on the farm, piney tastes coming up retronasal, softly acidic. Well-bodied, reasonably warming, light burning sensation. Very good winterbeer. The exact "golden middle" between spicey X-mas, and spicey-refreshing Walloon beer. Good! beerslayer (753), New Jersey, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 5, 2004 Bottled. A good, spicy, sugary aroma to this hazy, copper coloured beer with a lovely white head. The taste is very clean with candy sugar notes. Very easy drinking with a lovely texture. Nice stuff. kook (2034), Perth, Western Australia, Australia
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Dec 5, 2004 Light caramel with a slight sourness present. Amber/red with a lasting beige head. Sweet caramel malts with a nice light spice in the finish. Little bit thin in body. Ok. Joeh (1908), Buckinghamshire, England

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 2, 2004 2004. Well made. Aroma is herbal,, yeasty, has some dark belguim candi, aromas and taste of funkiness. Fairly heavy I think for a Saison. Pours will a frothy white head. Body is bubbly and sweet. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 1, 2004 (2004) Bottle reads Special Winter Ale and has a lone Christmas tree and lots of snow... artwork is courtesy of Shelton Brothers, I’m certain. Murky, dark amber ale with a huge, rocky, off-white head. Terrific retention with cumulus lacing. Herbal, hoppy aroma with notes of leather, mint, homemade soap and fuzzy fruit. Perfectly balanced flavor with hints of caramel, butterscotch, apricot and mush mellon. The moderately high ABV is invisible. Medium-bodied with a silky mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Short, crisp, clean finish. Fun, but dangerous beer to drink as it goes down easy, but is still deceptively high in alcohol.
