I thought it was a tasty and delightful beer. aroma was of sweet sweet tomatoes, bananas and strangely enough a starbucks latte. It tasted somewhat of cherries and apricots with a finish of wet cardboard on the palate. MI2CA (1266), Noblesville, Indiana, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 30, 2005 25oz - 2004 on the cork - Aroma is sweet and yeasty with a bit of wet shoe and fresh hay. Copper color with continuous bubbles circulating small particles around under a thick head that leaves plenty of lacing. Flavor is direct with a wet wood, yeast, pepper and coriander finish. Not for the faint of taste. Bubbly sticky palate that leaves a a sour aftertaste. Nice. heemer77 (4305), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 30, 2005 Dark gold color with a little orange. The aroma is funky hay and some lemons. A hint of dandelions and fall leaves combine summer and fall smells. The tastes are slightly tart at first with fresh peaches and a hint of lemons. There is also hay in here. The mouthfeel is lively with carbonation. The herbal notes keep this baby fresh. A little leather and grass keep the fruit character in check. Explosive flavor with each sip. This is not a timid saison. It makes you sit up and take notice. Well done for the style.
ClarkVV (3578), Allston, Massachusetts, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 22, 2005 2004 750mL bottle consumed 6/20/2005. Served well-chilled, to start, in a tulip. Grand appearance, deep golden-bronze-amber color beer, with light orange highlights. Hazy, bottle conditioned/unfiltered with mountains of orange-beige head, lasting, and lacing in clumps. Dense particles make their way to the surface at a moderate pace. Aroma smells of oily yeast, lightly tart and full in the nose. Baked bread, wet hay warming in the sun and a trek down to the muddy pond on the farm. Light hops notes are just barely perceptible at first but unfold as it warms and breathes. I do detect some notes of alcohol at first, but this passes after the beer has breathed. Flavor is immensely yeasty, though it is done so well here. Not stale and cobwebby, but vibrant, delicious and engaging. Lightly tart notes, raisins, figs, white pepper and coriander. Thick, malty goodness in the body and a soft, engaging carbonation/mouthfeel, with tiny bubbles. Malt is only lightly doughy, moderately sweet and caramelly. The hallertauer hops in this, (I think that’s what’s in here) are just to die for. They hang on the edges of the palate, adding a fresh zing of thick, spicy grassiness, notes of fruity limes and light dill and parsley. Mildly bitter, they work mainly to add subtle flavor and linger on the finish delectably. Green, fresh and not overdone, they instantly steal the show for me. A fantastic saison from a fantastic brewery! Papsoe (14996), Frederiksberg, Denmark
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 5, 2005 Updated: Oct 19, 2007(Bottle 75 cl) Very beautiful amber, with an exceptionally huge, rocky head. Some haze. Very high in carbonation (as with most Blaugies beers) and hence rather quenching. Spicy almost herbal notes in there on a malty background. Has some of the fustiness so often found in artisanal Belgians - it’s very much either/or if you like it. Rather bitter finish. 280597 mkobes (2104), paramus, New Jersey, USA
