Commercial Description:
La Moneuse is named for A. J. Moneuse (b. 1768), a famous local bandit and gang leader, and ancestor of the brewers' family. It is a classic "saison" beer by virtue of its strength and its earthy, aged quality. It has a hardy, semi-dry malt character, a fresh but not overpowering hoppiness, abundant yeasty, fruity flavors and a fairly strong, but pleasant and enticing mustiness.

750 ml bottle. An unclear medium amber beer with a medium sized and disappearing white head. The aroma is rustic and nicely hoppy, with notes of bread, hay, oranges, flowers. The flavour is very balanced between its ingredients. Again flowery and fruity. There is a balanced acidity. Medium body, lively carbonation, dry long finish with medium bitterness and the alcohol is well hidden. A great beer, apart some problem with the uncorking because part of the beer is gone after the expolosion at the opening of the bottle. I will have this again.

Explodes from the bottle after removing the cage from the cork (scared the shit out of me actually). Huge gushing bubbly beer, dirty amber gold. Musty basement, dried straw, chamomile, citrus fruit, dry herbal finish. Complex and delicious.

Very nice saison. Vigorous carbonation. Yeasty, white fruit and citrus aroma. Drier flavor with hints of dried apricot and hay.

(Rating #1721)

As soon as I loosened the cage there was a loud POP and the cage and cork shot about 6 feet into the air. It scared the hell out of me. Watch out! Not surprisingly it poured with a huge white head. Citrus, yeast and earthy, musty aromas. Flavors of citrus, yeast, spices. Light/medium body with prickly carbonation and a dry finish. A very good saison.

750 ml bottle. Solid, classic and easy drinking. Huge, pillowy, white mergengue head that lasts. Hazy dark yellow body. As appealing an appearance as I think you can find. The aroma has notes of grain, hay and straw as well as celery, grass and herbs. That is all wrapped in an earthiness and hint of clove and cinnamon. The flavor is moderately sweet, moderately bitter and moderately acidic. Dry finish. Medium body with a smooth texture and lively carbonation. The alcohol takes a backseat to everything else, but still warms you. Careful not to gulp this one. Outstanding.

Take care when opening it blows as champagne.Hazy amber ale with big foam head with much sediment floating, very carbonated, dry and a bit spicy. In fact, a very good ale.

Clear light orange in colour with strong and spritzy carbonation. Aromas of lemon, orange, light malt, yeast, Sémillon grapes, toasted marshmallow, and light red berries. Starts off a touch sweet in the mouth with more of the citrus and berry fruit combo. Spice flavors come in mid-sip, with notes of hops, black pepper, and nutmeg, before drifting into a very dry mineral tinged finish. Well balanced, with moderate bitterness. A touch more acidity would have really knocked my socks off, but this is still pretty damn good as is.
