Commercial Description:
La Moneuse is named for A. J. Moneuse (b. 1768), a famous local bandit and gang leader, and ancestor of the brewers' family. It is a classic "saison" beer by virtue of its strength and its earthy, aged quality. It has a hardy, semi-dry malt character, a fresh but not overpowering hoppiness, abundant yeasty, fruity flavors and a fairly strong, but pleasant and enticing mustiness.

Bottle. [Courtesy of Sk8viking, thanks buddy] Huge bubbly white head that mostly lasted. Good display of lacework. Cloudy orange color. Aroma of spice, fruit, light sour notes. Over the palate came toasted malt, fruit, and citrus. Medium bodied with a lively carbonation. Light to moderated sour and sweet flavor. Spicy sweet finish. 6-3-6-3-12 = 3.0 19-04-2008

(3/2/08) Draught sample at Zythos Bier Festival 2008 in Sint Niklaas. Dark cloudy amber with a quickly-diminishing off white head. Aroma of fruits and yeast with some hoppy notes. A rather dry flavor with malt, some hops and fruits. Medium-bodied.

Pours a cloudy amber with a enormous white head that leaves a good amount of lacing. Aroma is grainy sweet, yeasty, herbal, nectarine and a bit musty. Flavor is mild sweet, herbal, pepper and lemony. Medium body, big carbonation. Long herbal finish. A very nice Saison enjoyed with my Easter Ham.

Zhytos beerfest. On tap. My first saison. Amber appearance, citrus & sweetness aroma’s. Bit sour-fruitish aroma, very subtle. Impressive brew for a low complexity.
