Commercial Description:
La Moneuse is named for A. J. Moneuse (b. 1768), a famous local bandit and gang leader, and ancestor of the brewers' family. It is a classic "saison" beer by virtue of its strength and its earthy, aged quality. It has a hardy, semi-dry malt character, a fresh but not overpowering hoppiness, abundant yeasty, fruity flavors and a fairly strong, but pleasant and enticing mustiness.

A very explosive beer. The color is hazy orange with some sediment of yeast floating around, and a huge whipped cream off-white head. The aroma is sweet spicy and fruity - I pick up coriander, yeast, peaches, and oranges. The flavor is sweet and very fruity, but also spicy, with the spiciness balancing the sweetness well. It has notes of oranges, cloves, citrus, and cardemome. The mouthfeel is very carbonated and the end very dry.

(Bottle 75 cl) Very beautiful amber, with an exceptionally huge, rocky head. Some haze. Very high in carbonation (as with most Blaugies beers) and hence rather quenching. Spicy almost herbal notes in there on a malty background. Has some of the fustiness so often found in artisanal Belgians - it’s very much either/or if you like it. Rather bitter finish. 280597

Bottled at Stockholm Beer Festival. Cloudy golden, rich airy head. Minerally and orangey. Densely malty with balanced sweetness. Complex with some indistinct spicynessMinerals and hops dry it out towards the finish. A beer with a balance and richness out of the ordinary.

Bottle. Light unclear medium amber orange color with a large, frothy, excellent lacing, fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is light to moderate malty, roasted, light hoppy, grape - citrus, moderate yeasty, notes of toffee. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet, light light acidic and moderate bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily - creamy, carbonation is soft to light lively. (180208)

Bottle (from thebelgianbeershop.com). Slightly hazy orangeish golden colour with mediumsized creamy beige head. Aroma is fruity, yeasty, earthy with some slight notes of berries and alcohol. Flavour is quite much the same in a nice balance. Leaves a nice earthy/spicy/fruity aftertaste with some slight warming alcohol as well.
