Commercial Description:
La Moneuse is named for A. J. Moneuse (b. 1768), a famous local bandit and gang leader, and ancestor of the brewers' family. It is a classic "saison" beer by virtue of its strength and its earthy, aged quality. It has a hardy, semi-dry malt character, a fresh but not overpowering hoppiness, abundant yeasty, fruity flavors and a fairly strong, but pleasant and enticing mustiness.

750ml Bottle: Aroma of yeast, hops, slight pepper, and light coriander. Poured orange in color with a huge, half-glass-sized, loose, off-white head that lasted throughout. Cloudy. Extremely sparkling. Full of tiny particles throughout. Very good to excellent lacing. Flavor is slightly sweet. Tastes of yeast, hops, slight fruit, and a slight hint of spice. Light to medium body. Slick, the lightly dry texture. Lively carbonation. Yeast and hop finish. 8%ABV is completely hidden throughout.

750 ml bottle - 2005 on the cork; thank you OREGON and John’s Market for importing gems like this; my 41st saison rating; woot, woot!! pours fuzzy dark orange with eggy white head; dusty nose of spice, lemons, wheat and yeasty goodness; almost some rye in there; musky and earthy; bone dry and drinks with a refreshing lightness and mild fruitiness; lemons, wheat and yeasty spice; wow, good stuff and pretty classic in the saison style without falling into the sweetness trap; a lovely brew and one I’ll pick up again when down in p-town

Location: 750 ml bottle from State Line, 12/5/09

Aroma: Nose has some lemon zest, some barnyard funk, orange, yeast, and spice
Appearance: Pours a cloudy light brownish-orange color with a huge fuzzy white head
Flavor: Taste has a medium sourness with spice malt flavors and some moderate bitterness
Palate: The body is light-medium, slight alcohol warming, with a nice mouthfeel
Overall Impression: This is a really nice saison, one that works really nicely. Another great beer I grabbed on my trip to State Line, a trip that is still paying off for me months later. Anyway, I liked this one quite a bit.

Location: From Ben4321 acquired at State Line, the "best beer store in Maryland" as quoted from Ben4321...

Aroma: Light semi sweet aroma.
Appearance: Cloudy yellowish-orange pour, medium.
Flavor: Lightly sweet, lightly bitter, slightly nutty taste.
Palate: Average carbonation.
Overall Impression: I don’t know what it is about this beer, but I like it - maybe it’s something in the taste but I can’t describe.

Amber with a small white head. Fruity aroma with pineapple and white port notes. Dry, vineous and fruity flavour with notes of vanilla and cinnamon. Slightly tart and funky towards the end.

750mL Bottle, purchased at Forest Liquors - Middletown, CT. Soft, clay-tinted apple, pear and yeast aroma. A bit of pilsner malt. Fairly classic profile. Pours a hazy pumpkin-orange, with a rocky, quick-fading whitish head. The flavor is delicate, carbonate soft, and pillowy. Lots of apple-like yeast and lightly cooked sugars. Fluffy. Yeast comes as a really toned back bread and mulled cider. I love these delicate, spring-like saisons, with gentle minerals, yeast, pilsner malt and alcohol. Very drinkable, very refined. The pale-fruit forward profile is particularly enjoyable. A classic rendition.

Bottle. Pours a hazy amber body with a huge tan head. Spicy body with some fruit accents, citrus, grape and a light tart lemon y note. Spicy pepper and earth y toned spices. Mildly tart with a slightly lush finish. Nice.
