Commercial Description:
La Moneuse is named for A. J. Moneuse (b. 1768), a famous local bandit and gang leader, and ancestor of the brewers' family. It is a classic "saison" beer by virtue of its strength and its earthy, aged quality. It has a hardy, semi-dry malt character, a fresh but not overpowering hoppiness, abundant yeasty, fruity flavors and a fairly strong, but pleasant and enticing mustiness.

Amber with a small white head. Fruity aroma with pineapple and white port notes. Dry, vineous and fruity flavour with notes of vanilla and cinnamon. Slightly tart and funky towards the end.

750mL Bottle, purchased at Forest Liquors - Middletown, CT. Soft, clay-tinted apple, pear and yeast aroma. A bit of pilsner malt. Fairly classic profile. Pours a hazy pumpkin-orange, with a rocky, quick-fading whitish head. The flavor is delicate, carbonate soft, and pillowy. Lots of apple-like yeast and lightly cooked sugars. Fluffy. Yeast comes as a really toned back bread and mulled cider. I love these delicate, spring-like saisons, with gentle minerals, yeast, pilsner malt and alcohol. Very drinkable, very refined. The pale-fruit forward profile is particularly enjoyable. A classic rendition.

Bottle. Pours a hazy amber body with a huge tan head. Spicy body with some fruit accents, citrus, grape and a light tart lemon y note. Spicy pepper and earth y toned spices. Mildly tart with a slightly lush finish. Nice.

750ml corked and cagged shared by suzygreenberg. Murky deep gold almost copper with a cloud like head that is very pillowy. Dusty, earthy, mineraly nose with a touch of lemon. Tons of tight carbonation on the palate. Tastes a bit more like a Belgian single or double, but on the super light side. Some banana and lemon up front. Wheat and mineral then hits me with some drying on the finish some sweetness also. Nice stuff, thanks Ben.

The aroma is musty, potent from the wild yeasts I suppose. The appearance is darker than a standard saison, more maple color. The flavor is strong, no sweetness at all, but more of an aged, almost winey flavor.

Nice light spice aroma. Orangeish. This is good right away. Lots of spices, grows as it goes. Flavor is very unprepossessing and excellent.
