I totally meant to open my root beer and opened this before I realised I’d pulled the wrong bottle out of the fridge. I’m hardly disappointed though. The aroma has hints of nuts and fruits and smells a bit like christmas cake... and although I hate christmas cake, the aroma is gorgeous. The head dissapated quickly even though I had it in a Delirium glass. The flavour... well, all I can say about it is it tastes exactly like peanut butter. No doubt about it, it’s peanut butter. Yummmmmy! MrManning (1655), London, Ontario, Canada

Aromas are caramel, molasses, nuts. and candies. Taste is sour candies, raisins, sweet bread. A good and unique example of the style. My favourite de garde thus far. Shared with Radek and Dougshoemaker. Cheers! jerc (3954), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 29, 2005 Bottle. Mildly hazy dark brown, nice fluffy light beige head. Aroma is quite fruity - tart cherry?, and some spice notes. Flavour has a deep malt foundation, with mild sweet fruit and spice. Finishes with a glimpse of sweet brown sugar yet leaves lingering wisps of tart/sour fruitiness in the aftertaste. Interesting. Smooth medium palate. Nice beer but not hitting the right buttons for me today. rudolf (1783), Buffalo, New York, USA

Body is rubyish brown wit a tihn head. Flavor has brown sugar, lemon, tart fruits, dusty malt. Decent malty finish - slightly grapey. I found the carbonation a bit harsh. tupalev (2618), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 24, 2005 Wow, very few ratings on this one, way to go Joe! Bottle, Smokeless Joe’s. Dark brown and very active appearance. Bubbly tan head. Spicy musty aroma. What is fast becoming to me "La Choulette spicy yeasty taste" that simply gets better and better as it warms. Nuttiness abounds. This is the beer the Brune wanted to be. Excellent. DougShoemaker (2856), Toronto, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 23, 2005 Aroma of pit fruit, candied malt and a hint of chocolate. Deep amber, pours a small tan head. Flavour starts off with some fruit, sweet malt, mild almond as well. Nicely balanced, pleasant bitterness. Very good offering! This is a unique example for the style.
