Fin (2179), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Jul 29, 2008 Brought along to Merton Summer Beer Festival July 19th by Mark (Maieb) Thanks for sharing this Mark Pours light gold almost straw coloured with a white head. This is big on aniseed on the nose and aniseed/fennel in the mouth, quite a soft feel in the mouth and yer’ know I don’t mind this at all, its weird but its one of those beers that I would embarrisingly put my hand up in a shy way and say I don’t mind this. Doppelganger (1114), Oxford, Oxfordshire, England Jul 29, 2008 Bottle that Mark shared at the Merton Summer Festival. Thanks! Gold, fine white head. Anise and sour maize tortilla aroma. Nice mint background note. Day old mash sourness, anise, a bit of butter. Funky, interesting experiment. The nature of experiment though, being that some work, some don’t. This one doesn’t, but trying was fun. Yeah for science! Mes_and_Sim (4320), Highgate, Greater London, England Jul 29, 2008 A Mes rate: Gravicask at Fin’s excellent Merton Beer Festival. Bright gold with a thin white head. Reasonable hoppy blonde beer base, obvious aniseed on top. Quite a lot of lime especially in the finish along with some peppery aniseed. I know it’s seriously wrong, but I quite like it. imdownthepub (4017), Banbury, Oxfordshire, Oxfordshire, England Jul 22, 2008 From bottle, many thanks to Mark (Maeib) for bringing this along to Merton Summer B.F ’08. Amber gold with fizzed white head. Big and overwhelming aniseed flavour, very strong and herbal and also pretty sweet. Tasted a bit like mouthwash. Alcohol on the finish. faroeviking (4134), Faroese Beer Republic über, Denmark Apr 1, 2008 Bottle. Pours a deep golden colour with a small lasting white head. Sweet herby aroma with some medicine and and a bit of anise. Thin mouthfeel. The flavour is sweet with herbs, anise and some alcohol. Interesting but not so tasty.
