| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 1, 2009 Pours dark amber to red with a thick foamy to creamy head with good retention. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel and a bit alcohol. Wonderful taste that starts bitter and hoppy with sweetness and malt kicking in just a bit later, very well balanced. Finish is long, dry and bittersweet. Good carbonation and a creamy texture. Love this. onlyrocknroll (220), Cork, Ireland
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 30, 2009 Mild but complex aroma of sweet spices, toasted nuttiness and a little warming alcohol. The flavour also has alcohol and some gentle caramel and toastedness. Warming and nicely complex but a little dull. stobbe74 (700), Denmark

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 15, 2009 Tap 30cl trappist cup. Toasted head and brwn colour; with caramel aroma. Sweetness to the palate. From my point of view it is not a real bock but a "special" trappist beer. Easy to drink and favourable to finish the night... porterhouse (1154), Alna, Maine, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 11, 2009 (750 ml bottle (2007) from 1828 Vintage House) Pours dark clear tea-colored brown with a very tall, quickly rising tan head with each pour. Aroma of chocolate and brown sugar with Band Aid. Mouthfeel fairly smooth, lightly pebbly and maybe lightly chalky, perhaps a touch fizzy. Flavor of chocolate, light brown sugar and lightly sour, tangy red wine. Quite phenolic initially. Also kind of hot and boozy all around for just a 7% beer. This bottle may be slightly off, a little infected. Kind of a strange example of a dunkler bock, seems like there is some Belgian influence (which Im not sure is beneficial in this case). mbuisman79 (141), Amsterdam, Netherlands

The taste is good too, but the hoppyness is a little bit too much. tomthompson89 (1488), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
