0.33L, medium stable light brown head, hazy light brown to deep red colour, aroma of brown sugar and caramel, flavours of prunes, raisins and brown sugar with hints of dark chocolate and bread, not to sweet with a very light bitterness. light but pleasant dour aftertaste. quite good but certainly not spectacular.

Nose is plums and brown sugar with just traces of belgian yeast. Flavor is heavy on the plums up front, a pleasant bready fig/yeast combination as it warms a bit. There is a noticeable alcohol burn that detracts from the overall taste from cold to warm. Not my favorite trappist (not close) but decent.

750 ml. bottle. Obviously not a good bottle as it pours with no head and is completely still. I’ll evaluate what I can, rate it accordingly and acquire another bottle for re- rating at a later date. Body is clear, dark amber with an (SRM 15).....nose is dried fruit, cherries, raisins, also molasses....taste is sweet malts, toffee, caramel, then dried fruits mentioned finishing with a light molasses sweetness...mouth feel and carbonation are not rated. I think this might be a really great beer. It will be interesting to taste the difference carbonation makes.

~ Purchased this 750-ml bottle from Frank’s Beverage in Glen Cove, NY. Pours a deep red brown color with a decent sized head that subsides rather quickly. Each time a bottle of a Trappist Ale is opened, and I take a sniff, it’s always a memorable experience. There is such a unique aroma from this beer that I can’t stop sticking my nose inside the glass! Strong hints of dark fruits, malts, and caramels tantalize the senses. The taste is complex, but everything pulls together rather pleasing. The taste is of bread malts, figs, and grapes. At almost 7% ABV, I polished this off with no problems at all. Wonderful execution on the style, and will undoubtedly seek this out again. I usually will not comment on how other members rate their beers (because everyone is entitled to their own opinions), but, with that said, how can some rate this a C, or even worse, a C-? I understand there are better dubbels out there, but come on now, seriously? I wish some would just give this beer a little bit of the respect that it deserves. Damaging ratings ought to be withheld for garden-variety American-style lagers. ~

16.9 oz crock-Pours adark amber light brown with a nice off white head. Aroma of fruits, caramel, sweetness, and malt. Taste of fruits, sugar, and yeast. This full bodied brew is very well balanced and tasty.

330ml bottle, Morrisons. Good dark ruby, malty, rich tasting ale. Ripe fruit evident, alcohol not too overpowering. Pleasant and smooth, my first experience of a Duth trappist ale.
