Aroma is sweet caramel malty with a mild underlying fruityness and a minor yeast note. Mouthfeel is only mildly carbonated. Flavour starts sweet with clear caramel malt notes but quickly turn into a more fruity sweetness. Along the way a note of nuts and dried fruit can be sensed before the beer descends into a soft malty finish with a mild bitterness and a bite from the yeasty spice notes. mugabe (219), Sweden

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 21, 2007 Without that strong aroma that Belgian Trappists have, this beer has a bit of a sweetness to it. It is softer than Belgians. Good, but not my favorite Trappist. RSRIZZO (1369), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 10, 2007 Had on 7/29/2007. Labeled as Koningshoeven. Aroma is a spicy scent with a nice sweet caramel back tone. Color is a rich amber with very good carbonation and a thick tight head. Taste is light yet sweet. Starting with a light/medium body it goes down smooth with a fluffy feel. Finish comes on with easy sweet malt flavor that has good tones of Belgian yeast, then a gentle bitterness that leads to a somewhat dry yet mildly sweet end and after taste. This is not the best Dubbel I have had but still a beautiful beer. DownsouthGav (601), Greater London, England
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 9, 2007 Nose of malt, bread and dates. Pours a nice reddish brown/mahogany translucent beer. Decent carbonation. Mouthfeel is soft, sticky and malty. Taste is sweet with notes of fruits and malt dominant. Nicely spiced. Taste finishes with a roastedness and some alcohol intrusion. A good beer.
