Aroma was chock full of fruits, from peaches and grapefruit to figs and prunes. Flavor is a bit fruity and bready, but light and not too sweet. Maybe not as nuanced as some Belgians I’ve had, but very good. GG (1640), NorCal, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 3, 2007 An excellent beer. Aroma of dark fruits, licorice, malty and almost some kind of nut bread aroma. Appearance is a dark brownish/reddish hue, small off-white head. Mouthfeel is a little lighter, perhaps a bit too carbonated but still nice. Flavor is raisins, alcohol, nutmeg and some yeast. An excellent example of this style. almopina (87), Madrid, Spain
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 3, 2007 Excellent abbey dubbel. Great appearance, fruity aroma, trappist yeast... not as complex or strong as other abbey beers which makes it excellent for beginners (and experts). Great beer. (Have to get another and re-rate it for my memory is not that good for tiny details). rmussman (905), California, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 2, 2007 Sampled while in the Netherlands. A very nice brew with a strong aroma and nice dark brown appearance. Head when poured was thick and tasty. Flavor was tremendous. A great beer. Beltramelli (471), Campinas, Brazil
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 26, 2007 Interesting beer. Intense and persistent taste of toasted malt, much more of coffee and chocolate. Short while extreme carbonation, but does not compromise the set. Absolute lack of aroma. But, in compensation, the cream is thick and consistent........................................
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Feb 25, 2007 Hop Leaf, Chicago. On tap. No head, almost wine-y in texture and flavor. Not what I would have expected from a dubbel. Wonder if a bottle would have been different... jalichio999 (502), Brazil

Palate accented of coffee, caramel, toasting and, over all, chocolate bitter taste (pure cacao). Perhaps therefore its palate tent to the sweet one. Very good aroma and cream, however too carbonated. Pretty color (brown). I detach as weak point the bitter taste that is in the tongue, extreme to mine. Very subtle aftertaste. Evident alcohol. fonefan (11640), VestJylland, Denmark
