Bottle. Hazy orange color with a very big off-white head. Lots of lacings. The smell is of sweet malts, caramel, biscuits, and lots of fruit esters. Hints of yeast. Quite a simple smell. The taste is very sweet and malty with notes of caramel malts, dark fruits, peaches, grass and yeast. The finish is mildly bitter and sweet with a hint of alcohol and some malts. Medium body with a rather creamy texture. There’s certainly nothing wrong with this beer. But it’s quite simplistic and overly sweet, and therefore gets quite boring after a while. It’s too heavy to drink a lot of, and to mild and unidimensional to come out as anything near a sipper.

blurry reddish brown, thin head. aroma is mostly those peach-O candies; there’s some dark fruit and it’s fairly sweet. flavor is fruitier but otherwise a bit too subtle. sweet throughout. more yeast and fruitcake as it warms. slightly thin.

Another nice Trappist beer. Pours dark amber with a head that laces a lot. Aroma is of dark fruits (cherries, raisins etc) with some sweetness. Flavor is big and complex. Alcohol is balanced by the big flavor and it goes down easy leaving you wanting more.

On tap at Churchkey in DC: Pours a slightly hazy copper amber with a small clingy-lacing whtie head. Aroma of sweet toasty biscuity caramel malt and a touch of light fruity esters and grassy hops. Starts with good malty fullness with a mild sweetness and doughy yeasty complexity along with some light fruitiness before a drier, toasty semi-bitter finish. A decent Belgian-styled ale.

Bottle from Mac’s on West Peachtree. Fairly big yeast and fruit aroma. I think I am smelling something along the lines of cranberry/grape. This is a pungent beer, no question about it, but it is not extremely nuanced. A lighter caramel brown for a Belgian, but it looks average. Not much head on this thing. A weak dark fruit flavor, with the alcohol coming through too much. Not a bad palate, but nothing special. Slight yeast flavor as well. This beer just isn’t doing much for me. It has a great dark fruit flavor with grapes and raisins coming through, but that is about it. Not very impressed especially paying $11 for a 750.

Nose is metallic and a little faint. Ale is clear amber with minimal head. Flavor is sweet with light alcohol notes. Finish is fairly thin and a little unsatisfying. Easy drinker, but I expected more.

750 ml bottle. Pours a dark copper color with little to no head what so ever. Aroma is orange, honey, malty sweet, raisins, some slight spice. Flavor is caramel, honey, maltiness, bread, dark fruit, orange peel, spice and yeast. While a touch thin in body it was a nice beer none the less.
