Light sweetness, not terribly carbonated. Soft, spice, fruity zest. Nothing stand out but a very solid belgian and quite drinkable. Enjoyable.

75cl bottle from Knightly Spirits (Orlando, FL). Pours a hazy orange amber color with massive two finger off-white head that settles slowly and heavily laces the glass. Aroma is sweet and floral with notes of ripe fruit, candy sugar, caramel, yeast, bread, grain, booze, light toffee notes. Flavor is sweet and floral with notes of banana, grain, yeast, bread, caramel, ripe fruit, candy sugar, light toffee notes. Medium body with a sweet, lightly boozy finish.

Bottle:   Deep amber, hazy, huge pillowy off-white head, spotty lacing.   Musty basement like malts.   A little fruity.   Musty malts on the tongue, basement funk, pale apple and pear skin.   Bubbley, rather spritzy.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full.   Certainly comes across as a Belgian Amber.   Lingering pale fruit skin and musty malts.   Pale sweetness.   Yeah, musty musty musty.   Tiz okay, but rather plain and musty.   If it isn’t a Dubbel, Tripel, Quad, or even a Dark Belgian, it always seems too simple.

Yeasty and some alcohol, but a balanced flavor with plenty of caramel and malts. Lively, vigorous and all around an enjoyable beer. La Trappe is much better than often given credit.

75cl bottle from Systembolaget. Best before 2012-02-01. It poured a hazy amber colour with a big medium big creamy white head. The aroma is sweet and inticing with notes of banana, apples, fruits, yeast and malts. The flavour is also sweet and malty. Notes of banana, apples, fruits and yeast. Some alcohol, but it’s hidden well. It has a medium long aftertaste. A very nice way to celebrate my 300th rating at RateBeer.

0.75 L corked bottle from de Bierkoning, Amsterdam. A thin offwhite head upon a hazed orangey-brown body. Spiced, slightly sweet malt aroma. Some Belgo-yeast and ripe fruits. Sweet-flavored. Herbal, with yeast notes and a caramelly malt profile. Fruity background and tones of earth. Mid-bodied. Quite sticky in the mouth. Dries up a bit towards the ending. Solid, does not stand out.

Honey pour produces a descent ivory head that left significant lacing. Aroma and flavor show bubblegum, banana, clove, belgian yeast, and caramel. Not a favorite.

Bottle from Wine and Cheese Place in Clayton. Pours a hazy orange color with a big beige head that sticks. Aroma of mixed fruits, caramel, Belgian yeast, and straw. The flavor also has a nice amount of fruit- banana, apricot, plum, green grapes, with notes of yeast, caramel, and straw. Some mild spice rounds out the palate. Soft and smooth, with a medium body and moderate carbonation. Dry finish. Nothing exciting, but solid.
