Pours a golden orange not much of a head and not very lively, aroma to me is mostly grainy and this carries over into the mouthfeel and taste, some fruitiness. jake65 (1725), Williston, North Dakota, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 15, 2009 Bottle: Copper/caramel pour with a thin beige head. Smells of dark fruits and caramel. A little sweet and malty overall. Tastes malty and dry with some florals. A bit vinous, but still has a little dry, floral bitterness. ben4321 (1041), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 14, 2009 Location: 750 from a Grocery store in Manhattan, 3/14/09, under the label Koenigshoeven Quadrupel Trappist
Aroma: Fruity and bread, banana and some alcohol to the scent
Appearance: Orange. amber color, some sediment in it around the glass, full light brownhead
Flavor: Some fruit taste, plus lots of bread/malt flavors, unusual for a Quad in that sense
Palate: Decently full body, lots of carbination, Well balanced, but you can feel the alcohol
Overall Impression:
Not quite the fruit complexity you’d expect from a Quad, you can feel the German influence as you drink it. Very nice beer though. Good cold weather beer. avilla (12), , Italy
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 10, 2009 Bottle@home. Poured in a trapist glass. Color is a dark orange with a thin white head. Aroma is banana, spices and alcohol. Flavor is sweet, banana again, spiced and warm. Heavy body, rich malty palate and a slight bitter finish. More similar to german doppelbocks or eisbocks than to a Trappist. Very good nightcap boFNjackson (1319), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 7, 2009 [Vintage 2007] Tap @ Barleywine and Big Beer Fest... Poured a golden/orange with a white head. Bready and yeasty aroma. Lots of carbonation and a little dryness on the palate. A metallic alcohol influence on the flavors with an earthy fruit character-- like bananas and apple juice -- Ash and clove notes in the finish. Seemed like a darker tripel. jonno (603), Brisbane, Australia
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 7, 2009 Brick solid. The most reliable and generally cheapest quad on the market. Does the trick every time. Great for those times that you are sick of Chimay Blue Enacoid90 (16), Rome, Italy
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Mar 6, 2009 The strongest of the special beers. Its flavor is full, mild and pleasantly bitter. Quadrupel is presently available in the autumn, is bottled by the year and is perfect company for those long winter evenings.
