Koningshoeven bottle, at long last I finally pick this up as opposed to misremembering and grabbing the dubbel. Too bad, as the dubbel is a better brew in my opinion. Medium towards dark amber, head faded moderately quickly. Aroma was sort of a typical Belgian malt thing going on, a slight yeast note, faint apricot in the back as it warmed. Flavor was medium level malts, a touch of apricot fruitiness, a bit of warming alcohol. The carbonation was high, unfortunately giving a carbonic bite as opposed to a refreshing spritziness. It seemed out of kilter with the rest of the brew. I was hoping for some complexity to emerge, but instead as it warmed, more sugary notes started to come through. In the end, just didn’t enjoy this much. May benefit from aging, as this was only a 2007 bottle (I think).

750ml bottle, Labeled as Koningshoeven Quadrupel. Pours hazy amber in color with full foamy off white head. Aroma sweet, yeasty and fruit. Taste sweet, fruit and spicey with dry finish.

This beer pours a cloudy amber body with a nice big vanilla coloured head. The one thing i noticed about this beer is how sweet it was. lots of caramel, toffee and vanilla with a floral fragrance. plenty of ripe fruit character and spice as well.

33cl bottle from Total Wine Tampa. Pours a dark reddish-brown with a one finger white tan-head that dissipates quickly but provides lacing on the glass. Aroma is malty, syrupy, sweet with notes of pear and complex cheese and spice. Flavor is caramel, toffee, maple syrup, and candy sugar. 10% ABV is well-hidden in the malted barley. Finish is sweet and syrupy with a somewhat lingering nature. Nice trappist ale.

Golden yellow with thin white head. Aroma of fruit, banana and light alcohol. Taste of ripe brown bananas, fruit, caramel with next to no bitterness. Mild dryness with a bit of an alcohol chaser feel to it. Not bad bit a bit too one dimensional taste wise.

Aroma of raisins, brown sugar prunes and a fair whack of alcohol. Pour is dark brown with a massive white head that dissipates with nice lacing. Flavour is a complex mix of dried fruit again of raisins prunes and more of that dark brown sugar and some spice that leaves a long finish with just a hint of the heat of the alcohol. It does a great job of covering up the fact that it is a 10% ABV beer. Drink with caution.

11.2 oz bottle labeled Konings Hoeven Quadrupel...Poured dark amber w/ an fizzy off white head. The head stuck around for a bit then dissipated just enough to provide some fizzy lacing. The aroma of the beer was filled w/ dark fruits, but I was also able to pick out a "nutty" smell along with some molasses/brown sugar notes. The flavor was mildly complex. I could taste dark fruits, spices, toasted malts, candy sugars, and some yeast. This was a medium heavy beer w/ a substantial amount of carbonation. The palate was sticky and sweet, with a long finish. Very tasty...

Almost without any head... what is there is bubbly and dissipates very quickly. Really nice dark amber color... but not like an amber ale... shinier. Really fruity, tart aroma. It is a pretty thick beer... actually you can tell just by looking at it. Lots of fruity tastes in there, but it isn’t too sweet like some strong Belgians. Slightly sour at the finish. A little bit bitter as well. No crappy aftertaste. Must be drank very slowly.
