| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 24, 2009 Bottle. Appearance: Clear amber with thin light head. Aroma: Honey sweetness and spices with hops in the background. Flavor: Well balanced. Dried aprictos, small hop bitterness, sweet alcohol, like rum or something. Palate: Medium body. Too much carbonation. Overall: The heavy carbonation and the bitterness from the hops makes this beer really refreshing. But it´s not as complex as a good abbey tripel should be. mgermani (863), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 24, 2009 Pours a lovely rose-gold with a one-finger head with decent retention and some minimal lacing. Aroma is ripe peaches and sweet, almost tangy malt. Tastes fantastic - buttery and warm with well-balanced yet sweet malting, sharp hops without overwhelming, complex with plenty of caramel and raisin-tart. Good carbonation and slightly creamy body. This is easily my favourite tripel - more like their quad in terms of sweetness and complexity. I like! Many thanks to Robin for the trade! CapnCascade (116), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 24, 2009 Pours deep copper, dense white head with excellent retention. Subtle aromas of sweet biscuits, apples, honey, flowers and yeast. Flavour is likewise fairly subtle, malty with some alcoholic warmth and no bitterness, hint of sweet fruit. Mouthfeel bespeaks high gravity, quite rich with a good bit of carbo. One of the better tripels I’ve had recently. probstk (1025), Nepean, Ontario, Canada
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 11, 2009 750 ml bottle from LCBO, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. DE19/08.
App.: Clear amber with a decent rocky white head.
Aroma: Sweet and fruity, quite yeasty, apples, white grapes, other tree fruits, floral honey, a bit of citrusy coriander, toast and biscuit, a few light herbal notes.
Palate: Medium+ body, fairly full effervescence.
Flav.: Lots of apples and other tree fruits, some alcohol, floral honey, some yeast, bread and biscuits, a touch of citrus and I think some acetone (pear drop); sweet with some biting alcohol, not really bitter with light biscuit and yeast to finish.
Far from stunning, but I’m far from a Tripel fan! Meatmallet (120), Salem, Illinois, USA

Malty and caramely aftertaste remains but not for long.Has a slick texture with lively carbonaion. It is a good beer but not as stand out as I was hoping.

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Feb 2, 2009 Slightly off aroma of chlorine.. Weak nose of clove, herbs and a floral hop.
’Dusty’ flavours - orange citrus.
Unfortunately (considering I love Trappist products) this one reminds me of river water.
Some mild yeast and sweet malt. No finish... maybe too cold?
My comment is harsh, yet the numbers are quite generous. This is simply because Trappist products have a reputation for being ’special’ and particularly well-brewed.
This tripel is certainly not a bad beer, but I think it could be so much better. swooper (426), Kladno, Czech Republic
