sdriessen (203), Dunedin, New Zealand Feb 2, 2009 Slightly off aroma of chlorine.. Weak nose of clove, herbs and a floral hop.
’Dusty’ flavours - orange citrus.
Unfortunately (considering I love Trappist products) this one reminds me of river water.
Some mild yeast and sweet malt. No finish... maybe too cold?
My comment is harsh, yet the numbers are quite generous. This is simply because Trappist products have a reputation for being ’special’ and particularly well-brewed.
This tripel is certainly not a bad beer, but I think it could be so much better. swooper (420), Kladno, Czech Republic Jan 29, 2009 alcohol, bread, golden, brown, hazy, white foam, with swimming yeasts, medium bitterness, medium sweetness, full body, bitter, long finish, MennoO (112), Haarlem, Netherlands Jan 18, 2009 bottle, nice triple, not great though. the taste is fruity and spicy, and stays in your mouth for some time, but becomes a lot thinner than the initial taste. TearsforBeers (170), Ohio, USA Jan 17, 2009 Bottled as Koningshoeven. Pours the darkest of tripels I’ve seen - a very amber influenced yellow. The aroma is complex and full of fruit - I notice melon, apple, banana, papaya, bubblegum, and champagne. The flavor is a bit different than the aroma, and has a more meaty, taste with the appropriate Tripel phenols. The moughtfeel is a bit thin and light. Overall, another very good Trappist offering. This one’s aroma is particularly good. Straling (185), Heerlen, Netherlands Jan 16, 2009 Bottle 30cl.
Pours a clear orange colour with a small size head and great carbonation.
Aroma is very pleasant and fruity, mainly sweet fruits.
Can smell oranges, spices and also some banana there too as far as I can smell.
Taste is also very fruity and sweet with oranges spices and banana, great taste and a surprisingly good
compared to the other La Trappe beers which I’m not too fond of.
sersdf (1000), chicago, Illinois, USA Jan 4, 2009 Too red. Smeels horribly of hard candy and rotten fruit. Way too sweet. Tastes better than smells. So sweet. So rancid. fata2683 (836), Panama City, Florida, USA Dec 31, 2008 Bottle, pours filtered amber with a tall white head. Looks great and smells biscuity with some malt and floral hops. Light alcohol and very malty in the mouth the finish is nice and bitter but not overly. Mouth is crisp with moderate carbonation. Nice tripel. cfrancis (291), Gloucester, Ontario, Canada Dec 28, 2008 Cloudy amber colour when poured. creamy head. Sharp taste with aromas of yeast. Very enjoyable trappist ale. Would do again!
