SkyCop32 (286), Morlautern, Germany Dec 20, 2008 This poured golden hazy brown with caramel and orange hitting the nose. This is real smooth and great to drink anytime. TheJollyOne (204), Kofu, Japan Dec 18, 2008 Close to my idea of perfection. This beer has a clear and beautiful orange body with a small off white head. It smells of sweet malts along with a whole bouquet of ripening fruits, slight ginger and citrus as well. The taste is a beautiful marriage of fruit, sweets, and spice. It begins with caramel and cinnamon, ends with spices and hints of bittersweet fruits. Medium fill to the plate, playfully fizzy with a wonderfully long warm finish. Stare into the fire and ponder the shaping of the world. Irresistible. Chipper (180), Red Lion, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 17, 2008 dark gold pour with a big pillowy white head. Very fruits, spicy, and yeasty aroma.
Flavor is nice and smooth, with a warming feel. Very good. floydian1 (257), FNQ, Australia Dec 15, 2008 Heavy 500ml corked ceramic bottle into chalice glass. Hazy orange-brown ale with small short lasting white head. Healthy nose of caramel and oranges with a hint of aniseed. Smooth warming alcoholic syrupy mouthfeel with flavours of oranges and caramel malts. Sweetish finish. More suited to a cold winter evening. Rciesla (3510), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA Dec 15, 2008 Bottle. My personal favorite of the la trappe offerings. Pours a hazy golden body with a white head. lots of fruit, orange, lemon, and apple. Yeast spiciness and a moderate alcohol warming. Good stuff. Imperial-John (154), Mississauga, Ontario, Canada Dec 13, 2008 Clear amber with lots of bubbles and a small creamy white head. Light yeasty aroma. Sweet malt, smooth carbonation, fruity and alcohol also. Dark color separates this from the Belgian Tripels. Beer Snob (378), Ontario, Canada Dec 11, 2008 Golden haze in the pour, citrus on the nose and a powerful and malty flavour. A bit cloying on the tongue, but a treat nonetheless. NoiZe (1288), Mooi Zeist, Netherlands Dec 7, 2008 Orange, golden colored brew. Fruity aroma. Flavor is fruity, some yeast. Pretty average, but nice.
