I really liked the La Trappe brand beers I’ve tried, and thought this one was particularly good. It is darkest, maltiest tripel I think I’ve ever had, and it really suited this beer I thought. It was a dark amber color, particularly for a tripel. However, it was a brilliant body and an attractive appearance with effervescence floating consistently floating to the top of the glass. Aroma was very malty with some metallic smells and tripel-ish spice and light sweetness. Mouthfeel was a bit thin. But flavor was quite good - spice up front and lots of good malt taste. Not very much like other tripels I’ve had, but excellent. I would highly recommend this beer. I had this bottle at Waagstuk in Antwerp.

750 mL corked bottle: Decants a hazy roiled honey-copper ale with Billowy white cap that reduces after a few sips to a lace-making ring. Soft carbonation. Aroma of succulent fruits, treacle, spices and sweet bread with some resinous undertones and some fusil alcohol. Wonderful rounded mouth feel to this with abundant complexity in the flavour profile; raisin bread, caramel, orange rind, earthy tones, sharp resinous hopping, all mingling in balance. Finish is lingering and warming with a fruity-cake dominance. A nice abbey triple done by a commercial brewer, I look forward to seeing how the 2 bottles I cellared will taste in a year or two.

750 mL bottle. Hazy copper with a small but short-lived white head. The aroma is very appealing: tart fruit, toffee, spice, alcohol and citrus. Flavour is more sweet than tart, with fruit and spice hiding most of the alcohol. Medium full with surprisingly little finish. Still a damn fine adult beverage.

Bottle, thanks ekstedt. Clear dark amber with a mostly diminishing, small, creamy off-white head, leaving a fair amount of lacing. Lightly malty, moderate to heavy on the hops, some yeast. Caramel, perfume, orange, soap, broth bubble gum and chalk. Moderately sweet and lightly bitter with a short finish. Light to medium bodied, fizzy carbonation, alcoholic.

Pours a cloudy orange amber and after it was dumped into a trappist glass the off white head faded rather quick. The nose is nice and sweet with some floral hops and rasins. The flaovr is very malty and grainy initially you can really taste the malted barley mixed with light fruits. The booze is not very apparent which is nice to know it is there but not really accentuiated in the flavor. Overall it is a great brew and the flavor is amazing.

Poured a hazy amber with thick head. Strong fruity taste, a bit too strong for my liking. Pretty yiesty with no bitterness. Sweet sweet beer.
