330ml bottle best before Dec. ’08. Spicy aroma, orange and lemon, cinamon, honey and barley sugar candy sweetness, some dried fruitiness, very nice. Pours a clean deep golden body with a big dense white head and lace. Body is rich, quite surupy, some apparent alcohol, amooth though. Flavour is towards the sweet side with some nice honey like touches of malt, a bit of spice is apparent towards the finish with some orange and dried apricot character in there to entice. A great beer although one might say its lacking is complexity in comparison to other Trappists, and Abbey beers, of this style.

Fiery Orange Glow With Sandy Head. Rich Syrupy Sweet Malt, Yeast, Bread and Spices, Particularly Cloves on the Nose. Heavy Creamy Mouthfeel with Spicy Notes Dropping Continuously Through. Nice Malty Underlay. Spice Notes, Breaded and Yeasty. Some Noticeable Warming. The Konings are Far More Simplistic Than Other Trappist Beers, But then Perhaps A Very Good Example of what a Great Session Beer Can Be All About.

Tasted 18/05/2007. 330ml bottle from Island Bay New World. Pours a rich orange gold, not quite bright, with a billowing off-white head that collapses. The nose is significantly clovey with a little underlying alcohol note (raisin and vanilla). In the mouth it’s cloying and clovey. Too clovey. Medium-fullish body and too sweet in the finish. Little complexity. Totally one-dimensional - way too phenolic - and the only Trappist beer I’ve ever had to pour down the sink... I’m very disappointed. Purchased a four-pack. Shared one bottle with a study group. Only got through half a bottle on my own, and then gave the other two away.

Bottle. 11.2 fl. oz. A cloudy amber color with foamy off-white head that quickly disappears. Very sweet aroma of malt, raisin, and spice. Dry texture. Flavor is sweet with an average bitter, yeasty finish of good duration. Nice amount of noticeable alcohol.

Bottle. orange amber color- a bit darker than i expected - with a thin tan head. Sweet malt, yeast and honey aroma. flavor yeasty, with sweet grain and yeast. Not bad, but a bit disappointing.

Bottle. Pours a lovely slight hazy orange. Head is made up of lots of small milky white bubbles with a distinct creaminess on the top - a little lacing. Aroma is nice and fruity. A milky feel blending with a yeasty edge. Very full mouthfeel, very creamy for the style. Flavour is very complex. Begins with a powerful vinious edge, then a general sweetness comes through. It blends a nice spicyness with the malty sweetness and a tone of alcohol. Apples, berries, plums, raisins and a touch of oranges. Great!
