pours hazy golden, white head.
Good example of Trappist, not my fav. of them.
Pours dark orange with thin off white/beige head.
Some nice grainy mouthfeel with dark fruits that seem to be overpowering the experience. Some yeast add to the palate experience and finish. DigitalMan (113), Idaho, USA Jul 16, 2009 25 oz. bottle at local pizza pub. Very nice tripel spicy flavor. Darker than normal color. Really liked this one. Spicier than, but maybe not quite as full as Chimay white. Vertical Bacon Strips (874), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Jul 15, 2009 Vegassssss....
Poured out a hazy amber brew with super fine sediment and a below average sized white cap that hasn’t the power to remain for long. Cool aroma! toffee, candy, wet bark, dark dried fruits, sweet and very interesting spices, dried bananas (faint), pink bubble gum of lower quality. The taste is pretty good but quite sweet, plums, sweet malts which hold up the body of flavour, yummy soft candies, something resembling lemon meringue - no crust, soft, acceptable spice with hints of weak pepper, sour apple on the finish. There is a shit load of carbonation here that is perfect, medium bodied, leaves a bit of a pasty coating - I finally noticed the alcohol on the taste and in my head. Finishes with a nice spice and fading bitterness which never totally disappears. I’ve noticed vanilla on one of my last sniffs before I drained the bottom into my gut and a touch of banana in the taste. Normally I don’t enjoy triples too much but I’ll have to say that I rather enjoyed this in under 5 minutes. hallinghansen (263), Odense SV, Denmark Jul 15, 2009 Bottle. Cloudy orange body, with a small white head. Aroma is oranges, spices and some sweet honey. Flavor is about the same. Pinball (2685), Allerød, Denmark Jul 13, 2009 33cl bottle bought in spain.
cloudy dark orange, thick offwhite head.
fruity, slight spicy, vey dry aroma, also some well hidden honey like sweetness.
flavor is sweet, yellow fruits, some bitterness where alc. plays a part, ends dry and bitter, with a sweet base. nice tripel. downender (2528), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England Jul 12, 2009 Bottle from Corks, Bristol. Amber coloured with a moderate, off-white head. Sweet malty aroma with some orange fruit and tired hops. Flavour was better, with some more sweetness, yeast, nutmeg and citrus fruit, leading to a gently bitter finish. Ok. MrGGen (221), Italy Jul 11, 2009 Colore dorato intenso.Compatta e cremosa la schiuma, ottima persistenza. Aroma alcolico con note di prugna e uva passa. Gusto rotondo, molto alcolico e liquoroso con frutta dolce.Discreta JoeMcPhee (4893), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Jul 11, 2009 Bottle. Golden-coloured brew with very little head at all. The aroma is quite spicy. Soft clove and apricot along with a bit of a musky note on the back. There is a bit of citrus and a nice sweet cologne-like spiciness. There is also a kiss of lightly crackery Belgian malts and there is a lightly oxidized note. A little bit of corkiness and some lingering citrus and apricot. A kiss of sherry flavour. A great balance of swet fruits and some yeastiness with a nice dryness on the back that keeps this nicely drinkable. It tastes like it has a bit of age on it (bunch of Googling to translate the La Trappe date code... yup, January, 2007 brew date). Really quite tasty with everything nice and restrained and balanced.
