Much more of an amber color than the typical golden color. Also much more caramel sweet notes with this beer, and less citrusy than normal. I think it is wonderfully clean and refreshing, yet has some characteristics of their dubbel. If you’re a true triple lover, this may not be your favorite though. However, if you love dubbels, give this a try...you’ll love it.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 4, 2006 Bottle. Spicy (nutmeg, pepper, anise) dried fruit aroma. Peach-amber color with moderate head and effervescence. Sour corn malt flavor primarily with raisin, peach and pepper notes and a light bitter finish. Has quite a bit of lager characteristics in the flavor - sort of like I spiiled some MGD into a decent tripel - very strange for a Belgian style beer. Okay taste but man I don’t really get the lager flavor and had to knock off some points for that. guzzler67 (1277), Hanover, Maryland, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 2, 2006 Dark copper appearance with a medium size tan head. Sweet smelling, yeasty, fruity aroma. Taste was malty, spicy peppery and modestly sweet. Well carbonated, medium to full bodied mouthfeel leading to a long lasting, dry, fruity finish. Dedollewaitor (3649), Odense, Denmark

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 5, 2006 Pours a more amber color than most tripels...and has a good looking head...unlike the other two konings I’ve had...it actually had yeast floaties too. This beer actually smells a bit trappist...yeast, candi sugar, and some dark fruit. The flavor is not overwhelmingly great...but it is very balanced. Spicey, yeasty, sweet, and fruity. Mouthfeel is considerably thick compared to most of the triples I’ve had. vyvvy (2034), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 27, 2006 11.2 oz. Not sure how old this is - it still has the La Trappe label on it. Pours a dark amber, one o the darkest tripels I’ve seen. Small quickly diminishing head. Smell is earthy, carmel, heavy yeast/biscuity - very appetizing.
Initial taste expodes in the mouth - earthiness, sourness and a light nutty flavor. Light sweetness, not as sweet as most tripels. Strikes me more of a Belgium strong at this point that a tripel, its probably the aging. Enjoyable. auderale (572), Fairchild AFB, Washington, USA
