Orange with a off-white head, quite fast disappearing. Aroma moderate malty (fruity), hoppy and yeasty. Flavor moderate to heavy sweet and light bitter with much alcohol. Moderate body. bobaidan (358), Farmington, Connecticut, USA Dec 23, 2005 Nice floral aroma. Pours a dark amber color with a light head. Taste is mostly fuirty yeasty flavors, with a bit too much alcohol coming through. After taste is a pleasant bread like flavor. A good beer, but not the best triple. Magicdave6 (5400), London, Greater London, England Dec 22, 2005 My i wrote these scores only 20-30 mins ago and as my thoughts go over it i feel as if im very much so over scoring it. Aroma is honey sweetness with sumflowers and orange having a little say. Taste is also similar with some buttery caramel malt kicking in however theres some lemon zest trying to hide the sweetness which helps. I can understand now why people say this isnt as good as it used to be since its been overtaken, as theres far far better examples of the style. Rather upsetting to see a trappist brew something so bad. Fukito (604), Buenos Aires, Argentina Dec 22, 2005 Bottle - December 2005
Pours dark copper, caramelly colour. With a medium not-so-frothy-as-expected white head, that almost completely disappears after a while and sees itself reduced to a white rim, leaving, some lacing as my chalices empties.
Aroma is sweet, yeast, pungent but captivating.
Taste is strong, sweet, a bit of burnt, but not offending. It reminds me a bit of Leffe blond but on steroids, you can really feel the yeast profile and the candi here, it has a fruity touch to it too. You can clearly feel the 8% and it even tastes stronger. Mouthfeel is full despite its lightness. Aftertaste is spicy and intense.
A beatifull triple indeed. bask (305), Leuven, Belgium Dec 21, 2005 Bottle. New beer at ABSdrinks, Winksele. Clear amber colour, small long-lasting beige head, medium lacing. Aroma of abricot, apple, raisins, caramel, spices, alcohol. Bittersweet flavour of spices and flavour, very light maltiness and bitterness in the medium-lasting finish. Eladerman (53), Newburgh, Indiana, USA Dec 21, 2005 This my be my favorite Trappist tripel I have tried. Better in my mind that chimay white, or westmalle tripel. The Westmalle is too sweet. This has just the right sweetness, with a fruity, honey-like finish. I can drink two or three of these in a sitting-then I feel REEEEAL good !!!!!!!! claudewfeete (4), England does not count Dec 19, 2005 A pleasing, deep, clear amber in appearance, with a malty toffee aroma. Refreshing but rich on, this has a fruit & caramel edge. destroye7 (299), Melbourne, Australia Dec 18, 2005 330ml bottle. Dark orange color. Good foamy head. Nice aroma. A light caramel after taste.
