330ml bottle aged over a year and served in my La Chouffe tulip:

Golden honey hue with lot of small floaties topped by a fading fizzy head and some lace. The aroma has notes of caramel, candi sugar, pear, apricot, peppery hops, dusty yeast esters and even a hint of powder chocolate. Initial taste offered up a sweet mix of malt and fruit supported closely by a never ending spice character for clove and pepper, I too get some banana as well. A moderate phenolic activity and finished with a light bitter bite. Some lingering tart and wood tones after the drink. The feel is quite lively despite the appearance and is a touch warming and leathery. The whole is better than the parts and I ended up enjoying this quite a lot.

330 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. Pours with an enormous head. Colour is deep golden to brown (amber), slightly hazy. Very nice aroma of fresh and dried fruits, spices, oak and exotic wood. Flavour is slightly spicy and peppery on a malty sweet basis with brown sugar and oaky elements. Not bad.

(Bottle 33 cl) Hazy golden, almost coppery with a handsome yet not very stable head. Very fresh and fruity nose, with some yeast. Weak caramel notes with a touch of something tart. Different impressions pointing in different directions. Overall still a wellmade - if not exactly harmonious - beer. 170200

Deep orange-copper body with chunky yeast floaties that never really settled in the bottle and a tight frothy white head. Sweet, malty nose like tree sap with spicy yeast, green raisins, and candied stone fruit. Rich, malty and on the dark side for a tripel. Lightly tangy with a medium sweet, toasty sugar quality, a leathery element, whole mandarin oranges, light phenols, and some spicy hop bitterness. Alcohol is clearly detectable. Distinct, but not in league with my favorite tripels.

The bottle poured an slightly cloudy amber liquid. This is a bottle conditioned beer so pour and handle carefully. The head was off-white, small and creamy but it didn’t last long and left no lacing. The aroma was of malt and a complex mixture of sweet and dried fruits. There were also notes of spice and clove. It had a medium body with a sharp bite of high carbonation and a smooth texture. The flavor begins sweet and moderately fruity with a carbonation bite on the tongue. As the flavor matures the alcohol warmth comes out and the finish is crisp, dry and long lasting.

Bottle from Clockwork Brewery. Pours very clear - is there yeast in this?? Reddish amber. Aroma of malt, candy sugar, no yeast. Fair mouthfeel. Quite sweet and uncomplex. Still claims to be trappist on the label and the bottle itself has ’trappist’ embossed on it. I’ve heard a rumour that the vatican were going to allow this, but the beer is very pedestrian compared with the Belgian trappist tripels.

Orange-amber appearance with a massive head on pouring.Very strong alcoholic background as you would expect from a beer of ths strength. Some quite complex flavours are in there but its also a very drinkable beer. One to enjoy late at night-as I did.
