| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 1/5 | 7/20 | Dec 1, 2002 Though I never rated it here before, this is a re-rate since production was taken over by Bavaria. At least they still bottle-condition this one, unlike the Dubbel. Dark hazy amber - inappropriate for the style, unless you’re being whimsical but this definitely is not a whimsical rendition. Plasticy, phenolic, estery aroma - like latex paint and stewed peaches. Initial shot of alcohol masks the ruthless palate. Firm maltiness is fine, but the aforementioned off-flavours battle for supremacy, winning out in the end. Very much unpleasant and a steep downgrade. fiulijn (7420), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy

Warm malty sensation, quite good taste, with a sweet liquorice hint. Only partially balanced by the bitternes, the palate is ordinary. Pleasant to drink, but nothing really remarkable. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 27, 2007 (750ml bottle) Lightly hazed amber body topped by medium beige head that mostly dissipates. Aroma is moderately sweet, candi sugar, pear, some orange, alcohol, light herb, raisin. Taste is moderately sweet, peach, pear. orange, some alcohol/plastic, herb, light caramel. Soft, medium-full body, light stickiness. Too much alcohol presence for the ABV. TBone (6842), Pori, Finland

Clear red-amber color, small white head. Aroma has sweet fruits (lychee, strawberry) and a bit of rye. Sticky, crisp mouthfeel, alcohol in the start. Toffee malty, some hops in the finish. Dissapointing. Not very tripel-like. I wonder if I got a bad bottle, but when reading comments like Oakes’s, maybe not. harrisoni (6830), Ashford, Kent, England

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 4, 2007 Nice, silky smooth and creamy head. The aroma is fruity, hoppy. Flavour, well I admit that La Trappe has a very, special place in my heart, I simply like their beers!! I find notes of candy sugar, ripe fruits and a nice bitterness - overall a nice tripel.
