Pours a very hazy copper with lots of floaties and a nice white head. Start is malty with a sweet middle. The yeastly banana flavors really shine through. Alcohol is well hidden. Slight bitter finish. Where would we be without monks? EithCubes (2172), Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 17, 2006 Bottle. Dense, stable, lacing beige head over a hazy orange pour. Spicy aroma of coriander, sugar, oranges, and malt. Smooth and slightly oily, strong taste of orange peels and pleasantly warming alcohol. Spicy but not as spicy as expected. Hops are well-rounded. Not my favorite triple, alcohol’s a bit too prominent, but a good dessert beer. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 1, 2005 Deep orange-copper body with chunky yeast floaties that never really settled in the bottle and a tight frothy white head. Sweet, malty nose like tree sap with spicy yeast, green raisins, and candied stone fruit. Rich, malty and on the dark side for a tripel. Lightly tangy with a medium sweet, toasty sugar quality, a leathery element, whole mandarin oranges, light phenols, and some spicy hop bitterness. Alcohol is clearly detectable. Distinct, but not in league with my favorite tripels.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 12, 2003 Cloudy orange with a quickly dissipating off-white head and pleasant aroma of caramel toffee and candy sugars. The flavor is of dry sweetness with apple and white grape fruit notes. It finished with a heavier, candy sugar sweetness in the background. The body did seem a little thin, but otherwise an enjoyable tripel. This bottle did have a new label and was not called La Trappe anymore, but was just named for the brewery. bager (2121), Copenhagen N, Denmark
