A sweet fruity and carmal malt aroma with just a hint of peppery spice. A full, but quite carbonated mouthfeel. A lot of alcohol on the palate, which is just a little raw for me, dominating the peppery flavour. Reminiscent of a spicy vodka for me - that alcohol comes through just way too strong. iowaherkeye (1856), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 29, 2007 750mL bottle, no date. Clear orange amber with a 1 1/2 finger yellowish white head that fades to a film fairly quickly. Candy sugar, fruity yeast consisting of pear and apple, a bit of spicy pepper and some stale herbal hops. Hints of plastic are also present. Flavor is much the same with some definite alcohol presence, though nothing crazy. Some light ripened bananas add to the candy sugar sweetness, but the hops do a good job of keeping things balanced (not too sweet), barely earthy, and herbal. There is something in here I can’t put my finger on that I’ve had in many beers, so we’ll come back to it if I remember throughout this bottle--update--is it brown sugar and/or juicy raisins? Semi-dry peppery finish. Moderate carbonation with a medium to full body--seems to be a bit flatter than most tripels I’ve had. A solid beer, though nothing phenomenal. thegreenrooster (1829), St.louis, Missouri, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 23, 2004 Pour is a deep dark almost tan. Nice size white head foams after the pour. Aroma is nice an musty almost like a dry wine. Flavor is sweet, fruity and a dash of honey. Nothing really overpowers though and this one is quite bland. I will still try the dubbel and quad though. The good thing about this brew is the price. Probably the cheapest trappist out there. AmEricanbrew (1828), bankrupt socialistwelfare state, Washington DC, USA

Frothy medium body. Big estery earthy fruit flavor with oranges and bananas. Has a nice boozy tang to finish. Enjoyed this one. Dorwart (1814), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 18, 2002 Lighter and thinner than I expected. Misty orange in color. Slight peach/fruit aroma. Nice head and carbonation throughout. Trace of head lingers for a while. Light to medium body with very little aftertaste. Did not notice the alcohol as prominent as some of the other reviewers. A good beer but from what I have read there are many others that are better. rederic (1811), montréal, Quebec, Canada

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 8, 2006 Bottle. Deep amber colored and fairly clear. Decent enough white head forms and leaves fair lacing. Aroma is corky with hints of grape. Active and pleasant carbonation. Light bodied. Flavors of grape, alcohol, cork and an underlaying sourness that never really becomes annoying and actually makes things interesting. Tasty.
