New review:
Tripel is probably my favorite non-wheat beer style. La Trappe was the first one I’ve tried, and I loved it. Now I’m a bit more experienced when they’re concerned, and I decided to rerate it. This poured a great looking dark orange colour with a nice medium sized head that went away relatively slowly leaving a ring of lacing around the glass. The nose is all peachy Belgian-style-malt, and the taste isn’t much different. Nice and sweet with hints of peaches and dried apricots, some dry background hopiness that moves into the aftertaste. Hints of alcohol and spices. I still like this a lot (and still think that this is underrated), but a bit less than I used to. Oh, yeah, and it’s now available in Croatia too. Wish the Dubbel and Quad were.... Old review:
Bottle from El Corte Ingles in Barcelona. Poured a lovely dark orange colour, with a fine head, the taste was fruity, maybe peachy, and it was quite sweet. A very, very, pleasant beer, which is certainly the best I bought while in Spain, and my only mistake was not buying more when I had the chance. Doubt I’ll be seeing this in Croatian stores any time soon (but I certainly hope). (8/5/9/5/18)

11.2 oz bottle-An aroma of belgian yeast, malt, and alcohol on an orangis amber body with a small head. Taste of malt, yeast, and alcohol. A little too much alcohol but not bad.

11.2 oz. slender trappist-style bottle, freshness date on the back label, sampled in a chalice. L: Reddish amber with a frothy head of beige colored creamy foam. Good retention and a fair amount of lace rings the glass. S: Green grapes and pears, earth spicy, nutty yeast, honey covered bananas and crusty bread, light touches of pepper, there is no mistaking that this has the nose of a tripel. The alcohol is not very noticeable, lost in the fruity esters. F&T: Smooth moderate body that is firmed up from the carbonation, crisp and softly dry. Earth, pepper and nutty flavors complement the tastes of grapes, pears and honey for a delectable mix. Hints of caramel grains and fresh baked bread towards the end. The hops provides a light spiciness, helping to dry out the nutty yeast and candied sugary finish. The alcohol imparts only a spicy low grade warmth in the palate. This is a highly drinkable tripel, smoothly balanced in its tastes, very enjoyable.

(on stoneworked bottle) Deep orange, small white head. Lovely, both herbal and alcoholic nose; I really dig these spiced beers. The taste is more maled, but there´s still a light, wood feel to it. The mouht is slightly foamy and really good grain rounded. Finishes of quite alcoholic and strong, with hints of canesugar and dry straws. A treat.

Pours hazy bronze golden with a thin, mostly maintained beige head. Aroma is a mix of fruity esters: pineapples, bubble gum, and phenols: apples, and candied fruits. Taste is lightly sweet with most of the flavors present in the aroma. Some of the phenols are overpowered by alcoholic esters. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with a Belgian alcoholic light stickiness and lush carbonation. Nice and probably my favorite of the La Trappe lineup.

Cloudy orange colour with an off-white head. Aroma is apricots, alcohol and yeast. Taste is spicey and as aroma. Full bodied, alcohol is pretty noticable but that’s OK. Good stuff.

Bottle. Beautiful amber colored body with a massive head. Aromas are grainy and fruity. Candi sugar is the first impression, but it gives way to a malty fruit presence that is well balanced and very enjoyable. Not as complex as some of the other tripels I’ve tried, but comes off very well.

Probablement ma préférédes des quatre de La Trappe (embalage cadeau). Riche, épicé, fruité, bonne. Et ça ne veint pas de la Belgique.
