I finally bought one, and here is what I think. It’s ok. Slightly better than average. That’s all. Quinten (959), zaandam, Netherlands

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 21, 2008 750 ml bottle from Bev4less in Santee. Pours a hazy copper color with a large sudsy white head that lingers a fair while and leaves plenty of lacing. The Aroma is strong with bananas, pears and mild spices. The flavor mirrors the aroma--the bananas are sweet and ripe in the forefront; other fresh fruits round out the sides: grapes apples and pears. The mouthfeel is smooth and creamy. The finish is long with complex fruits lingering. Overall: This is the sweetest tripel with the most fruit that I can ever remember. Very different. Recommended. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 23, 2008 I really liked the La Trappe brand beers I’ve tried, and thought this one was particularly good. It is darkest, maltiest tripel I think I’ve ever had, and it really suited this beer I thought.
It was a dark amber color, particularly for a tripel. However, it was a brilliant body and an attractive appearance with effervescence floating consistently floating to the top of the glass. Aroma was very malty with some metallic smells and tripel-ish spice and light sweetness. Mouthfeel was a bit thin. But flavor was quite good - spice up front and lots of good malt taste. Not very much like other tripels I’ve had, but excellent.
I would highly recommend this beer. I had this bottle at Waagstuk in Antwerp. loweredsixth (942), Fresno, California, USA

The aroma was very fruity...apples, pears, cherries...with a nice sweet malty English barleywine character to it. The flavor was very sweet, fruity, tea character in the aftertaste, and a noticeable alcohol warmth throughout. The feel was soft, but crisp...slightly thick. TaxiDriver (938), Stadland, Germany
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 29, 2008 Bottle. Fruity smell (cherry, red wine?), average malty. Medium sized white creamy head, fast diminishing. Red sparkling body. Moderate sweet start, light bitter finish, average duration. Medium body, dry and creamy texture, lively carbonation. Finally light astringent finish. Nice one, not one the best Trappist beers but a good one!
