It was a dark amber color, particularly for a tripel. However, it was a brilliant body and an attractive appearance with effervescence floating consistently floating to the top of the glass. Aroma was very malty with some metallic smells and tripel-ish spice and light sweetness. Mouthfeel was a bit thin. But flavor was quite good - spice up front and lots of good malt taste. Not very much like other tripels I’ve had, but excellent.
I would highly recommend this beer. I had this bottle at Waagstuk in Antwerp. loweredsixth (942), Fresno, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 28, 2003 Cloudy amber color with a small off-white head. The aroma was very fruity...apples, pears, cherries...with a nice sweet malty English barleywine character to it. The flavor was very sweet, fruity, tea character in the aftertaste, and a noticeable alcohol warmth throughout. The feel was soft, but crisp...slightly thick. smith4498 (940), Miami, Florida, USA

Pours an initial thick head. Other than the fruitfest, this will leave you a little chalky at the end. Not the best aftertaste.
