Solid sweet orangey-almondy nose. Moderate to solid sweet flavour, accompanied by a little bitterness, medium bodied. Almonds, sweet fruits and a little tartness in the finish. Pleasant, warming stuff........ MartinT (5075), Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Smells of hay, citrus, coriander, crabapples, and macintosh apples. Taste is bitter sweet with cherries, and citrus being most prevelant. Very smooth finish. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 11, 2009 Bottle. Golden-coloured brew with very little head at all. The aroma is quite spicy. Soft clove and apricot along with a bit of a musky note on the back. There is a bit of citrus and a nice sweet cologne-like spiciness. There is also a kiss of lightly crackery Belgian malts and there is a lightly oxidized note. A little bit of corkiness and some lingering citrus and apricot. A kiss of sherry flavour. A great balance of swet fruits and some yeastiness with a nice dryness on the back that keeps this nicely drinkable. It tastes like it has a bit of age on it (bunch of Googling to translate the La Trappe date code... yup, January, 2007 brew date). Really quite tasty with everything nice and restrained and balanced. Yeasty, sweet caramel aroma with raisins. Sweet flavour, medium to full body. Sweet roastmalty taste with notes of overripe fruits and alcohol and a touch of bubblegum. Sweetbitter, light spicy and strong but still pleasant alcoholic finish. ¾ (5006), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 26, 2004 Hazy orange appearance, with a nose of alcohol, butter, rum, and old fruit... old bananas. Sticky palate, full I guess, with a slightly spicy banana and grain flavor. Burps tangy bananas and lemons. yngwie (5000), Kristiansand, Norway
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 29, 2007 Bottle. It poured a bit unclear, copper colored and topped by a big diminishing beige head leaving nice lacings. Caramel, roasted, alcohol, spices and a bit metallic aroma. The flavor has caramel, dried fruits, some hops and spices, and is quite sweet. Full, sweet and a bit warming mouthfeel. Sweet and warming finish as well, with some hops and metal. There’s a tad much caramel in this tripel, yet it is a nice brew. (070416)
