May 28, 2008 33 cl bottle, best before 02-2010: poured clear amber with a huge off white head. Drank at cellar temperature, about 68 degrees. Moderate bubblegum and dough aroma. The flavor? Pretty huge. Bubblegum notes, big alcohol, cognac-like flavors with not quite the alcohol. I would love this a little cooler but as it is, it’s pretty damn good.

Mar 3, 2002 The only Trappist ale I tried before this one was Chimay Bleu, which I didn’t think was that fantastic. Although I figured I should give the style another shot, and I am happy I did. This brew doesn’t have the overwhelming alcohol flavor like the Chimay, and it’s flavor is very enjoyable. I just might try another Belgian strong!

Mar 8, 2003 Pours a cloudy, orangish golden color with a big, white, lingering head. The aroma is strongly malty sweet with a touch of alcohol. Full body with little carbonation, the flavor is thick and malty sweet with hints of alcohol, yeast, and nuts. Finish is mildly hoppy and spicy. Very nice.

Jan 26, 2003 This beer poured a reddish amber and formed a bubbly off white head that left circular lace as it subsided. A good amount of carbonation is present. An aroma of malt, herb and bread. A flavor of malt and citrus with a warming slight presence of the alcohol. A slight tart finish on a light body brought on in part, no doubt, to the heavy carbonation. Not a bad tripel.

May 19, 2003 This brew had a large creamy thick head that was long lasting. There was lacing on all sides of my glass. The aroma was fruity and spicy. It had a spicy flavor. Its body was an orangish color and cloudy. It had a somewhat bitter taste to it with a slight aftertaste. I really enjoyed drinking this particular brew.

Aug 31, 2007 Pours a dark amber, with a decent white head. The aroma is a candy sugar, sour fruit, and yeast. The taste is pretty much the same as it smells.

Jan 24, 2006 750 ml. bottle. Pours an unfiltered hazy golden color with a thick white head. Aroma is of sweet spices with hints of nutmeg,nuts and banana. Flavor is full of figs,bananas,nutmeg, nuts and caramal. Very good.
